Who owns Sacombank?

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Information about new senior personnel appointments comes amidst Sacombank's ongoing restructuring process. Along with this process, Sacombank's shareholder base is also undergoing significant changes.

Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( Sacombank , stock code: STB) has just appointed Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy as acting General Director.

On the same day, Loc Phat Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( LPBank , stock code: LPB) also announced the resignation of Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy from the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors, and simultaneously appointed Mr. Ho Nam Tien, the Permanent Vice Chairman, to the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors from December 23rd.

Reportedly, Mr. Thuy, born in 1976, previously held positions as Chairman at Xuan Thanh Group, Saigon Xuan Thanh Football Club, Xuan Thanh Securities Company, Xuan Thanh Cement Company in Ha Nam and Quang Nam, and Kim Lien Hotel. From 2017 to 2019, he served as Vice Chairman of Xuan Thien solar power projects and Chairman of Thaiholdings Group.

From April 2021, he joined the banking industry as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of LienVietPostBank (now LPBank), and was subsequently elected Chairman of the Board of Directors from December 9, 2022 until the end of this year.

The news about new senior personnel appointments comes amidst Sacombank's ongoing restructuring process. This process is accompanied by significant changes in Sacombank's shareholder base.

According to statistics, currently, except for the 32.5% of Sacombank shares held by the State-owned Asset Management Company (VAMC) which cannot be divested due to legal obstacles, Sacombank has no other major shareholders.

In the latest development, the foreign fund PYN Elite Fund has reduced its stake in Sacombank from nearly 95.7 million shares to nearly 91.7 million shares, equivalent to 4.86% of the charter capital. As a result, the fund is no longer a major shareholder of the bank.

Mr. Duong Cong Minh is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors, and together with related parties, holds more than 74.4 million shares, representing a 3.95% ownership stake in Sacombank.

In addition, many foreign funds own capital in Sacombank, but their stakes are small. As of December 23rd, foreign shareholders hold over 268 million Sacombank shares, equivalent to an ownership stake of over 14% (while the bank's foreign ownership limit is 30%).

On the market, STB shares have recorded 7 consecutive days of gains since December 12th, currently trading at 56,000 VND per share.
