According to Red Star Capital, "AI hair washing machines" have recently started appearing in cities like Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Some users, after trying them out, have expressed satisfaction, saying it's a much-needed solution. Conversely, other customers have described the machine as nothing more than an automatic water sprayer.
Before washing, the staff will check the client's scalp. Then the client puts on earplugs and lies on a massage chair. The staff places the client's hair into the washing basin, closes the lid, ensuring the silicone seal is tight to prevent water leakage. The entire cleaning process lasts 10-20 minutes. During washing, some machines use high-pressure water jets to automatically wash the hair. Others use a mechanism that simulates fingers pressing against the scalp.
Finally, the staff will open the lid and dry the customer's hair. The price for an "AI hair wash" ranges from 10-20 yuan per session.
"As someone with oily hair, I felt my scalp wasn't completely clean. But overall, the drying effect wasn't bad, making it a lifesaver when traveling . The massage chair was also very good," shared Xiao Hu, a customer who experienced the service. Meanwhile, Ms. Su commented that the "AI hair washing machine" is like an automatic water sprayer.
Currently, not many large enterprises are involved in this industry. The suppliers are mainly newly established startups. When searching on Taobao, the price of an AI hair washing machine is around 30,000 yuan. This industry is currently developing through selling machines or franchising.
Mr. Huang, Product Director of Que Mei, said that they have been researching an automatic hair washing machine with cleaning, massage, and drying features since 2018. They have launched the third generation of smart hair washing robots, which will be available in May 2024. The company sells the machine to interested customers for 30,000 yuan, or offers franchise rights with the product starting from 20,000 yuan.
Speaking to the press, the manager of an AI hair salon stated that their franchise fee is 29,800 yuan (approximately 107 million VND). The total investment to open a store is estimated at around 122,800 yuan (approximately 430 million VND). Currently, the brand has four stores. These locations target Gen Z, with a gender ratio of 40% male and 60% female, and an average customer spending of 20-100 yuan per purchase.
