AirPods Pro 2 have new software.

The software, reportedly with build number 7A294 (up from 6F8), is available for AirPods Pro 2 users. Apple has been testing a beta version of this update and will release it before iOS 18 is launched.

Some features were added to AirPods Pro 2 as part of iOS 18, and those features are now available in the new software update.

Apple announced several new features related to hearing health in the form of a software update for the AirPods Pro 2 headphones.

This includes hearing protection mode, which is enabled by default, providing passive noise cancellation in noisy environments. Apple is also introducing a "clinical-grade" hearing aid mode as part of a software update launching later this year.

If hearing loss is detected, the hearing aid mode will be activated. AirPods will help users hear sounds from the world around them more easily. A customized hearing profile will be automatically applied when listening to audio, such as music or podcasts.

The hearing aid feature is currently being approved by the FDA and other regulatory agencies. Apple says the feature will be available in over 100 countries and will be enabled through a free update later this year for AirPods Pro 2.

Additionally, users can control Siri on AirPods Pro by shaking or nodding their heads. Siri can also be used to answer incoming messages, calls, and notifications.

Additionally, Apple has added Voice Isolation to AirPods Pro to reduce loud background noise, making it easier for users to hear, and a new Personalized Spatial Audio feature specifically for games. Game developers will be able to incorporate spatial audio into their games for a more immersive sound experience.

Although Apple doesn't share a manual way to upgrade AirPods software, it's typically done over the air while the earbuds are in their charging case and connected to an iOS device or Mac.
