Taylor Swift's '1989 (Taylor's Version)' Returns to Number One

Taylor Swift's album is spending its fourth (non-consecutive) week at No. 1. 1989 (Taylor's Version) re-entering the top spot in the final week before Christmas is no surprise, as the singer's vinyl albums have seen huge sales thanks to Christmas gift-buyers.

Taylor Swift currently holds many music records

Taylor Swift's dominance on the charts puts her in line for another record. This is her 67th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, tying her with Elvis Presley for the most weeks at No. 1 by a solo artist. If 1989 (Taylor's Version) holds the No. 1 spot for another week — which she has a near 100 percent chance of doing — Swift will surpass Elvis Presley.

However, the singer still wouldn't hold the top spot if she removed the word "solo." The all-time record is held by The Beatles, who spent 132 weeks at No. 1 on the album charts, nearly double the number that Taylor Swift and Elvis Presley currently have. It will take her many years to beat The Beatles' record. But Swift is only 34 and still very much in the prime of her career, so no one can say that The Beatles' record will stand forever.

Taylor Swift to dominate world music in 2023

Taylor Swift and Elvis Presley's 67 weeks at No. 1 put them both miles ahead of the rest. Garth Brooks had his album at No. 1 for 52 weeks, followed by Michael Jackson with 51 weeks.

Taylor Swift's dominance is even more evident when she has 3 albums in the top 10 best-selling albums: 1989 , Midnights (3rd place) and Lover (7th place).

Billboard doesn't break out Taylor Swift's vinyl sales or total album sales when it releases its weekly chart news, but it's clear the singer is dominating physical sales.
