Bowls of "cooling" water at the training ground.
In May, as the whole country commemorates the 136th anniversary of the birth of the great President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026), the atmosphere of emulation in "teaching well, learning well" is more vibrant than ever across the training grounds of the armed forces in An Giang province. For new recruits who have just left the embrace of their families, this is the most challenging period to hone the character of a revolutionary soldier.

Understanding those hardships, on May 14th and 15th, the Women's Association of the An Giang Provincial Military Command coordinated with the Women's Union and Youth Union of the localities to organize the "Water for the Training Ground" program. The stops on this meaningful journey were Battalion 512 (Regiment 892) and Battalion 207 (Regiment 893).
The program is not only a practical activity to celebrate President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, but also a bridge connecting emotions and conveying a message of deep concern and sharing from the home front to the front lines.
Under the scorching sun of the Southwestern region of Vietnam, the new recruits diligently practice drills, shooting techniques, and tactical plans on the training ground. Sweat soaks their shirts, their faces are tanned by the sun and wind, but their eyes still shine with determination.

During the break, the appearance of the women in their green volunteer uniforms and neat military attire brought a refreshing breeze. Cool bottles of water, sweet pieces of fruit, and small cakes were handed out to each soldier.
“Holding a bowl of cool water in our hands during our most exhausting moments, we not only felt a coolness in our throats but also warmth in our hearts. The care and concern of the women in the unit is a motivation for us to promise ourselves to work even harder so as not to disappoint everyone's trust and love,” new recruit Le Chi Nguyen, from Battalion 512, shared emotionally.

Beyond simply providing water, the program was also a vibrant cultural space. Spontaneous cultural exchanges between new recruits and local youth union members brightened up a corner of the training ground. Songs praising the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, love for the homeland, and the glorious traditions of the Vietnam People's Army resonated, bridging any gaps and further strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people.
Spreading humanitarian values and a sense of responsibility.
Sharing her thoughts on the significance of this activity, Senior Lieutenant Tran Huynh Thi Le Huyen, President of the Women's Association of the An Giang Provincial Military Command, said: “The 'Bowl of Water on the Training Ground' program is a practical activity aimed at boosting the morale of new recruits. Through this, we hope to contribute to instilling confidence and determination in them, helping them overcome initial difficulties, actively study and train to become outstanding soldiers.”

In particular, within the framework of the program, the organizing committee presented 20 gifts to new recruits from disadvantaged families. Although the material value is not very large, it is a timely act of sharing, affirming that the unit and local authorities will always stand by them, ensuring that no soldier feels alone on their training journey.
The success of the "Water for Training Grounds" program in 2026 once again affirms the pioneering role and sense of responsibility of the Women's Association of the An Giang Provincial Military Command in activities accompanying the troops.

Close coordination between the armed forces and local socio-political organizations not only helps build a healthy cultural environment within the military but also contributes to strengthening a solid foundation of popular support.
These bowls of water, given with heartfelt kindness today, are a source of vitality, giving strength to the new recruits so they can work with peace of mind and be determined to excellently complete their training tasks in 2026, living up to the title of "Ho Chi Minh's Soldiers" in the homeland of President Ton Duc Thang.
As the vehicles carrying the delegation departed, the coolness of the bowls of water seemed to linger on their lips, and the young soldiers' smiles still shone brightly in the afternoon sun on the training ground—smiles of confidence and determination.
