The Sun dance troupe (a group promoting revolutionary songs in Duc Hoa district) invests in both visuals and sound to deliver polished, high-quality performances.

Contributing to overall success

For over 15 years, the TCM group from Duc Hoa district, Long An province, has made unforgettable marks on various local events. In 2024, the group adopted the name The Sun Dance Troupe. From stirring melodies to sweet lyrics about history and the country, this group of over 40 people continuously spreads their passion for revolutionary music , igniting a spirit of national pride .

Currently, the group's members range in age from 15 to 35, including high school and university students, as well as teachers working in the district. The group brings together many talented young people in the arts, discovered and nurtured through local arts competitions and talent searches.

The group primarily operates on demand for each program and event. A highlight of The Sun Dance Troupe is its specialization in performing revolutionary songs and songs praising the homeland. While maintaining traditional values, the group also strives for innovation with many performances featuring modern and fresh arrangements and orchestrations. For larger programs, the group invests in inviting professional teachers to assist with staging and choreography. Therefore, each performance is guaranteed to be meticulously crafted in terms of both sound and visuals.

With their enthusiastic and dedicated spirit, The Sun Dance Troupe's performances have contributed to the success of many important events in Duc Hoa district. For example, the March 26th gathering, the New Year's Eve cultural performance, the Spring Festival 2025, and the ceremony recognizing My Hanh Nam commune as a new rural area, etc.

In particular, the dance troupe also participated as a supporting performer for the district's segment at the 2024 Young Propagandists Competition in the Provincial Armed Forces with the theme "Youth Following in the Footsteps of Heroic Traditions". Not only contributing to the district's overall success, The Sun Dance Troupe also achieved high results such as First and Third prizes at the Provincial Revolutionary Song Propaganda Competition in 2023 and 2024.

Love for one's homeland and country is always present in the performances by the revolutionary song propaganda group of Tan Hung High School (Tan Hung district).

Sharing about the group's development direction, Nguyen Thi Truc Linh, head of The Sun Dance Troupe and an official from the Duc Hoa District Cultural, Information and Broadcasting Center, said: “The group is gradually building and developing communication channels on social media, especially our fanpage, to spread revolutionary songs more widely. Our biggest goal is not only to bring quality artistic performances but also to contribute to traditional education and awaken national pride in our members and the general audience.”

According to Ms. Linh, the activities of traditional Vietnamese dance groups like The Sun Dance Troupe create a healthy and beneficial playground for young people to showcase their talents, interact, learn, and develop comprehensively. Performing heroic songs also helps them understand more about history and the great sacrifices of their ancestors, thereby fostering patriotism and national pride.

Spreading the love of revolutionary music.

Recognizing the potential and passion for art of the school's performing arts team, Nguyen Viet Tan, Secretary of the Youth Union of Tan Hung High School, Tan Hung District, developed the team into the TCM group. From the 2016-2017 school year to the present, the group has not only contributed to the success of school events but has also become a shining example in the local school performing arts movement.

Each school year, the TCM group has 40-45 members, including both singing and dancing teams. The members are all outstanding talents with enthusiastic spirits, selected from school-level arts competitions. Their shared passion for music unites generations of students, and many, even after graduation, enthusiastically return to support the group in important events.

The activities of the TCM group at Tan Hung High School are vibrant and diverse. Besides performing at school events, the group also participates in major district programs such as the military training camp, the Party celebration, the 30th anniversary of the district's establishment, and the Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic exchange, etc.

Each time they appear on stage, the children present elaborately staged performances, expressing their deep love for their homeland and country. The heroic melodies and meaningful lyrics not only recreate a historical period but also awaken in the listeners a sense of pride in the nation's indomitable fighting tradition.

To increase its reach and connect more closely with young people, Mr. Tan also actively posts the group's activities on the Tan Hung High School Youth Union Fanpage in Long An province. As a result, the group has received positive responses and feedback from students and parents, sparking interest and love for songs rich in historical and cultural value.

As someone who closely followed the group's activities, Mr. Tan can never forget the memories of practicing with the students for the Long An Province Student Talent Search Competition in 2023.

Tan recounted: “We competed in the final round with a dance performance titled 'Memories of Con Dao.' This was a new, poignant song, requiring the whole group to put in their best effort. With a spirit of unity and high determination, after only two weeks of practice, the students successfully completed their performance, captivating the audience and judges, and proudly bringing home the first prize.”

In their journey to spread patriotism, the TCM group from Tan Hung High School received the best possible support from the local authorities and the school in terms of funding and transportation to enable the students to participate in performances.

With continuous effort, the group has achieved many encouraging results: numerous First, Second, and A prizes for the entire team at the District-level Revolutionary Song Propaganda Festival from 2022 to the present; Third and Encouragement prizes at the Provincial-level Youth Melodies Competition; and Champion at the Long An Province Student Talent Search Competition in 2023.
