AMD lowers prices on Radeon graphics cards.

According to TweakTown , the Radeon RX 7900 XT, released 13 months ago with an initial price of $899, means the price of this GPU has now dropped by $150, and in some cases even lower. This price also paves the way for AMD to launch a new graphics card to compete with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super, which has a suggested retail price of $799.

In addition, Nvidia is reportedly testing the GeForce RTX 4070 Super – a GPU priced at around $599 but nearly matching the Radeon RX 7900 XT in graphically intensive games. Perhaps AMD decided to prepare for the launch of the more powerful GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super, which will go on sale on January 24th, hence the official price of the Radeon RX 7900 XT has dropped to $749.

Reportedly, AMD was unsuccessful with the Radeon RX 7900 XT from the start due to its high price relative to its performance. Four months after its release, AMD reduced the price from $899 to $799, and even dropped it to $699 for a few weeks as part of a temporary promotional program implemented by many retailers and only for certain versions of the RX 7900 XT.

Since the card isn't very popular with buyers, AMD's price drop to $749 wouldn't be too surprising. In some cases, VideoCardZ notes that buyers can even find cheaper models; for example, the ASRock Phantom Gaming, the cheapest Radeon RX 7900 XT version, is currently selling for $710 on Newegg.

Additionally, AMD has decided to reduce the price of the Radeon RX 7900 GRE from $649 to $549. This GPU is not officially distributed as a standalone unit, only offered as part of pre-built gaming PC systems and through system integrators. However, many retailers overlook this restriction and sell the card separately. It has more graphics cores than the Radeon RX 7800 XT but has the same 16GB of video memory.
