Ratcliffe worries Amorim could leave MU early. |
Amorim is said to have strong support from Ratcliffe in the summer transfer market of 2025. However, according to Goal , Amorim's contradictory statements have made Ratcliffe worried that this coach may leave Old Trafford due to the great pressure of taking on the task of rebuilding the "Red Devils".
Amorim once admitted: "This is a decisive moment in the history of the club. We need to be really strong and brave in the summer because next season cannot be like this. If everything is the same, maybe I should give way to someone else."
British media revealed that Ratcliffe is still worried that the former Sporting Lisbon coach may decide "enough is enough" after a chaotic season. Amorim admitted that he is responsible for "the worst team in United's history" at this time.
Ratcliffe and Amorim have in common a strong, decisive personality, similar to the way the British billionaire transformed Ineos into a global petrochemicals group. However, Ratcliffe wanted to make sure that Amorim would complete the remaining 2 years of his contract instead of leaving MU in a worse situation.

Amorim has been under great pressure since taking charge of MU. |
MU can qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League final on May 22, but that is not enough to ensure that Amorim will not resign. He has admitted that competing in Europe's top competition next season may be too much for MU at present.
After investing £1.3bn to own 27.7% of MU shares, Ratcliffe implemented drastic cost-cutting measures. Ratcliffe warned that MU's finances were in such a dangerous state that they could go bankrupt. However, he was willing to spend £100m to buy Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap. In addition, the club also targeted a new goalkeeper and a new central defender.
Along with the investment, young talents such as Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo could be sold for around £100m. Several other players will also be sold to raise funds.
Amorim has the final say in the rebuilding process, overseen by Ratcliffe, CEO Omar Berrada and Technical Director Jason Wilcox. However, all this will only happen if Amorim commits to staying long-term, avoiding the situation where United have to change managers for the third time in less than a year.
