An Giang starts construction of 10 projects to welcome the 1st Provincial Party Congress

Attending the ceremony were Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, Party Central Committee member, Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai and representatives of the Provincial People's Committee, departments and branches.

The projects that have been started include: Provincial Road DT.975; Cua Can Lake; Underground technical infrastructure project in Duong Dong area; Underground technical infrastructure project in An Thoi area; Technical infrastructure investment and digital transformation project, construction of Phu Quoc City Smart Operation Monitoring Center; Project to build embankments and level the ground for building APEC conference center and functional works; An Thoi resettlement area project.

Projects launched include Bai Bon Waste Treatment Plant, An Thoi Domestic Solid Waste Treatment Plant; and Cua Can Lake Water Plant.

These are all strategic infrastructure projects, not only enhancing Phu Quoc's capacity to successfully host APEC 2027, but also aiming at the long-term, sustainable development goal of the special zone, contributing to affirming An Giang's role on the country's socio-economic development map.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Party Central Committee member and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that the groundbreaking ceremony of 10 key infrastructure projects, part of a system of more than 21 key infrastructure projects serving the APEC Conference, are modern and synchronous infrastructure projects that not only meet the conference's needs but also contribute to promoting the long-term development of the locality and the country.

These projects are not only large-scale projects with a total investment of thousands of billions of VND, but also demonstrate the close coordination between the Central and local levels, between the State and enterprises. With the upcoming synchronous infrastructure system, Phu Quoc will not only be the destination of the APEC conference but also a symbol of an innovative and creative Vietnam, aiming to become a developing country with modern industry by 2030.

An Giang Provincial leaders inspect the progress of projects to serve the APEC 2027 Conference

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that the APEC 2027 Summit Week is a very important international event, receiving the attention of General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of the Party, State and Government.

In order for the projects to be completed safely, with quality, technique, aesthetics and on schedule, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung requested ministries, branches, agencies and units, especially An Giang province, to focus their efforts and thoroughly grasp the spirit of "what they say is what they do, what they commit to is what they must do"; strive to complete projects 3-6 months ahead of schedule, ensuring the best quality, creating the most beautiful and impressive space of Vietnam and Phu Quoc in the eyes of international friends.

Actively coordinate to resolve problems within authority, promptly report to competent authorities on issues beyond authority. Organize and implement tasks openly and transparently, absolutely do not allow negativity, corruption, loss, waste, group interests to occur and organize close supervision within authority.

Currently, An Giang is focusing on directing departments and branches to implement the contents to ensure the projects to welcome the Party Congress and APEC Conference are on schedule.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung requested An Giang province to regularly inspect and review the procedures for implementing bidding packages, works and projects to ensure compliance with legal regulations. Proactively coordinate between agencies and units, resolve arising problems at the grassroots level to speed up work progress. Promptly report to competent authorities on issues beyond their authority.

Urgently complete necessary investment procedures for the remaining projects, striving to complete construction of all projects in October 2025. Maintain security, order, social safety and political stability in the area, especially in the areas where the projects pass through; do not delay progress, affecting the organization of the APEC 2027 Conference.

Pay attention to and take care of people's lives, resettlement work, support production stabilization, ensure livelihoods for people in new places, and have new jobs equal to and better than the old place.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested that project owners, investors, supervision consultants and contractors promote the highest sense of responsibility, strictly comply with legal regulations on project investment management; promptly deploy construction to ensure safety, quality and efficiency, strive to complete ahead of schedule, and soon put works and projects into operation and use.
