On March 28, Mr. Dinh Xuan Sam - Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Hanh District, Quang Ngai - said that the district police are verifying information that many students of Hanh Tin Tay Secondary School, Nghia Hanh District ate candy of unknown origin, then felt nauseous, had stomachaches, and chest pain, showing signs of poisoning.

According to information from the People's Committee of Hanh Tin Tay Commune, in the past 3 days, many students of Hanh Tin Tay Secondary School bought and ate a type of candy sold at a cafe in front of the school gate.

After eating this candy, students showed symptoms of nausea, stomachache, and chest pain.

Many students were taken to the Commune Health Station for monitoring and were stabilized. Only 15 students with worsening symptoms were transferred to Nghia Hanh District Health Center for monitoring and treatment.

Upon receiving the information, the police and authorities established an interdisciplinary inspection team. As a result, they discovered that Nhi Ka shop (in front of Hanh Tin Tay Secondary School) was selling the type of candy that students ate and later showed signs of poisoning.

Working with the authorities, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nhi (36 years old, owner of Nhi Ka shop), said that on March 25, he bought 4 packs of candy (weighing 0.5kg/pack) of unknown origin at Quang Ngai market for 50,000 VND/kg and brought them back to sell to students. After eating, the students felt nauseous, had chest pain, and had stomachache.

On the outside, the candy is in pill form, has a colorful wrapper, but has no brand, place of manufacture, or information related to origin.

At the time of inspection, Mr. Nhi had sold 1.2 kg of candy to many students. There was only 0.8 kg left at the shop.

"The district police have investigated the candy, found the cause of the poisoning and dealt with those involved," said Mr. Dinh Xuan Sam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Hanh district.
