Spring is not only defined by the blossoming peach and apricot flowers or the bustling year-end markets, but also by the warmth of new homes, the thoughtful gifts given at the right time, and the work that gives laborers renewed faith in the future.

Representatives from the Vietnam Investment and Development Bank - Thanh Hoa Branch presented financial assistance for house construction to Ms. Le Thi Thanh, a former youth volunteer residing in Don Trai residential area, Sam Son ward.

From a warm home to the joy of having a job.

As Tet (Lunar New Year) approaches, the joy of spring arrives for Ms. Le Thi Thanh, a former youth volunteer in Don Trai residential area, Sam Son ward, in a very special way: her dream of having a home to settle down in has finally come true. After many years of renting, living in cramped conditions with her mentally disabled daughter and three young grandchildren, Ms. Thanh can now celebrate Tet in her new home. The house, approximately 80 square meters, was built with the collective efforts of her family and a donation of 80 million VND from the Vietnam Investment and Development Bank - Thanh Hoa Branch through a community-oriented social welfare program. The house is not only a shelter from the rain and sun, but also a source of spiritual support, giving this woman, who once dedicated her youth to the country, renewed faith in life.

In Mrs. Thanh's eyes, emotion was evident as she recalled the difficult times she had gone through. "Having a house now, I feel more at ease, and my children and grandchildren also have a stable place to live," those simple words encapsulated so much hope for a more prosperous new year. This timely and practical support not only helped Mrs. Thanh's family settle down, but also spread a humane gesture, demonstrating social responsibility and profound gratitude towards those who silently dedicated themselves to the nation.

That joy also spread to the small house of Mrs. Tran Thi Xuan in Tho Xuan commune – a single woman with poor health, living on social welfare. The Tet gifts were not large in material value, but full of heartfelt sentiment. "Just knowing someone remembered me warms my heart," Mrs. Xuan said, her eyes shining with emotion. For vulnerable people, timely care is the most precious spring gift.

Beyond providing material support, social welfare also opens up a path to self-reliance for many. Nguyen Van Tuan from Thien Phu commune, a young worker who had been unemployed for a long time, now has a stable job at a garment factory after being connected through a job exchange platform. Although his income isn't high, it's regular and sufficient for Tuan to cover his living expenses and help his family. "Having a job means having a future," Tuan shared.

Three short stories, three different circumstances, but sharing a common point: when welfare policies truly meet people's needs, they gain more confidence in life. This is also the foundation for spring to arrive not only outside the gate, but also to fill every home.

Society cares together.

Social security has never been the responsibility of a single sector or level of government, but rather a sustained joint effort of the entire political system and society as a whole. Over the past period, programs to reduce poverty, provide housing support, create jobs, and implement social insurance and health insurance schemes have been implemented comprehensively, focusing strongly on the grassroots level and placing the people at the center.

Leaders of Thieu Hoa commune presented gifts from the Party and State to people with meritorious services, social welfare beneficiaries, social retirees, and other vulnerable groups in the area.

In 2025 alone, thousands of poor and near-poor households received support for building and repairing houses; tens of thousands of workers received job counseling and placement services; and health insurance coverage continued to expand, giving people more peace of mind in case of illness or disease. Regular and emergency social assistance policies were disbursed promptly and to the right recipients, especially during the Lunar New Year.

A noteworthy point is the increasingly flexible and humane approach. Besides state resources, many businesses, organizations, and individuals have actively participated in activities such as "Tet for the Poor," "Spring of Love," providing solidarity housing, livelihoods, and scholarships for disadvantaged students. This support not only helps alleviate immediate burdens but also provides motivation for people to rise out of poverty sustainably. In many localities, local authorities proactively review and understand the circumstances of each household and individual to ensure that policies do not deviate from their intended purpose. Administrative reform in the field of social welfare has also been accelerated, making it easier and more transparent for people to access policies. As the gap between policy and life is narrowed, people's trust is built day by day.

With the arrival of spring, hearts become more open. In the rhythm of nature's transformation, enduring and humane social welfare policies are the "undercurrent" that keeps society stable, providing every citizen with a solid foundation. When homes are sheltered, jobs are created, and compassion is spread, spring is not just a moment, but a constant emotion. Solid social welfare – peace of mind for the people – is also the foundation for the nation to enter the new year with radiant hope and aspirations.
