- We are currently in the rainy and stormy season of 2026. Therefore, the wards and relevant units have been and are implementing proactive response measures.
In recent years, the situation regarding natural disasters in general, especially rain and storms, has become increasingly complex, causing damage to both people and property. For urban areas within the four wards of the province, the rainy and stormy season frequently brings flooding, fallen trees, and other potential dangers. Given this reality, even before the start of the 2026 rainy and stormy season, the People's Committees of the wards, along with relevant units, have proactively implemented numerous preventative measures.
Mr. Vi Van Ba, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Luong Van Tri Ward, said: To proactively respond to rain and storms, the People's Committee of the ward has proactively developed plans and methods for disaster prevention and control; organized comprehensive inspections of areas at high risk of landslides, flooding, and traffic disruption; deployed sufficient personnel, barriers, and warning signs at dangerous points, and provided assistance in evacuating people when emergencies occur.

At the same time, the People's Committee of the ward continues to effectively maintain the "Green Sunday" movement, mobilizing officials and people to simultaneously clean up the environment and address areas at risk of localized flooding; proactively inspect the electrical system and public address system; and strengthen propaganda on rain and storm prevention and control to the people through various appropriate forms such as broadcasting through public address systems, Zalo groups in residential areas, and integrating propaganda into meetings and activities.
Along with Luong Van Tri ward, the remaining three wards (Dong Kinh, Tam Thanh, and Ky Lua) also proactively developed plans; created proactive response strategies for rain and storms; strengthened propaganda and inspections in vulnerable areas, especially those frequently affected by flooding, to find immediate solutions as well as propose long-term solutions; and proactively prepared sufficient manpower, equipment, and essential supplies to be ready to implement the "four on-the-spot" principle…
Besides the preparations by the wards, due to the characteristics of urban areas, the rainy season and storms frequently cause localized flooding and the collapse of branches and trees. Therefore, relevant units are also implementing comprehensive solutions to prevent and respond to rain and storms. Mr. Phan Quoc Manh, Deputy Director of the Urban Drainage Branch ( Lang Son Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company) said: To proactively respond to rain and storms in 2026, the unit has strengthened the steering committee for disaster prevention and search and rescue; developed plans and strategies for rain and storm prevention… The focus is on coordinating a comprehensive inspection and review of the current situation, organizing the cutting, trimming, and felling of diseased, dead, and fallen trees; clearing and dredging manholes and drainage pipes; inspecting electrical cabinets, wires, and lampposts of the lighting system; inspecting equipment and pumps, and organizing 24/7 operation of the wastewater treatment system…

From the beginning of 2026 until now, the unit has pruned and cut down over 500 shade trees that were diseased, dead, or broken in 4 wards; dredged over 800 m3 of mud from manholes and drainage pipes in 20 streets and resolved clogged drains in 4 wards…
Not only the Urban Drainage Branch, but also other units such as the power and telecommunications companies responsible for the four wards have developed plans and strategies to respond to natural disasters, prior to the 2026 rainy and stormy season. These units have prepared the necessary personnel and equipment to support flood and storm prevention and control efforts.
Alongside the involvement of relevant agencies and units, residents in the wards have also proactively implemented measures to prepare for rain and storms. Mr. Dinh Trong Tu, from Block 11, Dong Kinh Ward, said: "Before the rainy season, my family and some other households in the residential area proactively checked the common drainage system; we trimmed trees to prevent flooding and collapse, which could cause safety hazards. Besides these solutions, we hope that relevant agencies and units will have fundamental solutions to quickly and thoroughly address the prolonged flooding situation in some areas across the four wards, in order to facilitate transportation and stabilize the lives of the people."
With the proactive efforts of agencies, units, and the people, we are confident that the response to rain and storms in 2026 in the wards will achieve positive results. This will minimize damage to people and property, contributing to the overall socio -economic development of the area.
