Life jackets are selling out fast.

According to a reporter from Phu Tho Newspaper, due to the flooding in the province, the market for relief supplies in Viet Tri City has run out of many items, including life jackets.

Stores specializing in personal protective equipment have run out of life jackets.

Specifically, a small trader at the city's central market shared that life jackets have been out of stock for several days, even though they had placed orders but haven't received any yet. This trader also confirmed that the suppliers no longer have enough to supply because this is a general "stock shortage." A representative from the Viet Tri City Market Management Board stated that this is not an item that needs to be stockpiled regularly, so traders in the market only import small quantities to sell. When demand spikes, this item sells out quickly, especially at this time, and obtaining more is difficult.

Safety equipment stores on Hung Vuong and Quang Trung streets are also out of stock. The owner of a safety equipment store on Quang Trung street, which has been selling safety equipment for many years, said: "For the past two or three days, many charitable groups have been buying up life jackets for relief efforts, so my store is completely out of stock. The supply from the warehouse is also very scarce. This morning I only managed to get more waist-length life jackets for individual customers, and now I only have two or three left."

Contacting volunteer groups that have collected large quantities of life jackets, they stated that these items were gathered from various sources and transported from warehouses both within and outside the province. Most volunteer groups used social media to connect with warehouses that still had stock to place large orders, or they obtained donations from benefactors who purchased them elsewhere and shipped them for relief efforts.

On social media, under posts about wanting to buy life jackets, many comments left addresses of warehouses and suppliers inside and outside the province for people to contact. Most people were looking for foam-core life jackets priced between 30,000 and 100,000 VND per piece, depending on size. Some warehouses and suppliers offered deep discounts or free jackets in large quantities as a way to help flood victims in need.
