At 1:00 p.m. today, May 28, the low pressure trough with its axis at about 10-13 degrees North latitude connects with the low pressure area at about 11.0-13.0 degrees North latitude; 111.0-113.0 degrees East longitude. The sea area from Binh Dinh to Khanh Hoa , the North East Sea area (including the sea area of ​​Hoang Sa archipelago), the Central and South East Sea area (including the sea area of ​​Truong Sa archipelago) will have showers and thunderstorms.

Information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that tonight and May 29, the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Binh Dinh to Ca Mau , Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand, the North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa archipelago), the Central and South East Sea area (including Truong Sa archipelago) will have showers and thunderstorms.

During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind, and waves over 2m high. All vessels operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.

To proactively respond to the low pressure area in the East Sea, on the afternoon of May 28, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued an official dispatch requesting coastal provinces from Binh Dinh to Ninh Thuan to closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of low pressure areas; notify captains and owners of vehicles and boats operating at sea to proactively prevent and ensure safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle possible bad situations.

The above provinces are ready with forces and means to deploy rescue work when there is a situation.

Regarding the weather on land, the Hydrometeorological Agency forecasts that from the night of May 28 to the early morning of May 30, the Northern region will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 40-100mm, locally over 250mm.

From early morning of May 29 to early morning of May 30, the North Central region will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 30-70mm, locally over 120mm.

From the evening of May 28 to the night of May 29, in the South Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 30-60mm, locally over 100mm (heavy rain is concentrated in the afternoon and evening).

Warning of risk of local heavy rain (>150mm/3h). Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
