AWS commits $230 million to invest in AI startups

Báo Nhân dânBáo Nhân dân24/06/2024

The AWS Generative AI Accelerator will accept 80 additional early-stage startups from around the world that are using generative AI to solve complex problems.

This commitment will provide startups, especially early-stage companies, with AWS credits, coaching services, and training to further their use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies.

Part of this new commitment includes providing companies participating in the second round of the AWS Generative AI Accelerator with practical expertise and up to $1 million in AWS credits to each of the top 80 early-stage startups using generative AI to solve complex problems. The AWS Generative AI Accelerator is open for applications from today through July 19.

Over the past 18 years, AWS has helped more startups launch, grow, and scale than any other cloud provider, said Matt Wood, Vice President of Artificial Intelligence Products at AWS. It’s no coincidence that 96% of AI/ML unicorns operate on AWS.

“Under this new commitment, we will help startups grow and scale into world-class businesses, providing them with what they need to create new AI applications that can impact every aspect of how the world learns, connects, and does business,” said Matt Wood.

Interested startups can use AWS credits to access AWS compute, storage, and database technologies, as well as AWS Trainium, and AWSInferentia2, energy-efficient AI chips that deliver high performance at the lowest cost.

These credits can also be used on Amazon SageMaker, a fully managed service that helps companies build and train their own platform (FM) models, as well as access models and tools to develop generative AI applications easily and securely through Amazon Bedrock.

The AWS Generative AI Accelerator identifies leading early-stage startups using generative AI to solve complex problems in areas such as financial services, healthcare and life sciences, media and entertainment, business, and climate change. Companies participating in the program will have access to training sessions on ML performance improvement, technology optimization, and go-to-market strategy.

The 10-week program will connect participating companies with industry-specific business and technical coaches. Each startup will receive up to $1 million in AWS credits to help them build, train, test, and launch new generative AI solutions.

They will also have access to subject matter experts, technology, and technical sessions from NVIDIA, the program's presenting partner, and be invited to participate in the NVIDIA Inception program, designed to support disruptive startups.

AWS will announce the list of startups selected for the second phase of the program on September 10. The program will begin on October 1 with in-person training sessions at Amazon’s Seattle facility.

All 80 startups participating in the program will be invited to attend and demonstrate their solutions to investors, potential customers, partners, and AWS leaders in December at re:Invent 2024 in Las Vegas.
