On June 2nd, the Department of Water Resources Management and Construction ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) announced that in May, rainfall in the Northern region (including Hanoi) was generally higher than the multi-year average.

In the Northern Midlands and Delta region, the total rainfall measured was generally between 150-250mm, 20-30% higher than the multi-year average, with the delta area experiencing 15-25% higher rainfall.

Authorities predict that from June to August 2026, moderate to heavy rainfall will be concentrated in the Northern region, the Central Highlands, and the Southern region. This also marks the peak of the rainy season in these areas across the country.
In the Northern region (including Hanoi ), the total rainfall in June 2026 is forecast to reach 150-300mm. This figure is 5-10% higher than the multi-year average.
Forecasts indicate that by the end of June 2026, the water storage capacity of irrigation reservoirs in the Northern region will average 58-84% of their designed capacity; in particular, the water storage capacity of Hanoi's reservoirs could reach approximately 75% (17% higher than in May).
According to specialized agencies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, there was no drought or water shortage in the Northern region during May. Water resources in June are also expected to be sufficient for agricultural production.
