From November 2021 to the present, the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has welcomed many delegations of Cuban experts for long-term work at the hospital. Taking advantage of this opportunity, doctors, especially young doctors at the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, have strived to learn from the experts to improve their professional skills.

With their existing English skills, the medical staff at the Neonatal Department (Provincial Neonatal Hospital) quickly adapted and took advantage of the opportunity to acquire valuable medical knowledge from foreign experts. “The department regularly organizes specialized medical seminars, with the participation of Cuban experts. Thanks to proactively improving our foreign language skills beforehand, I and many other doctors in the department did not encounter any language barriers when communicating with foreign experts. We comfortably communicated in English with the experts and learned many valuable experiences in diagnosis and treatment from them,” shared Dr. Pham Van Anh, Head of the Neonatal Department.

"In addition to improving their professional skills, most young doctors at the Provincial Military Hospital are also proactively improving their foreign language skills. Many doctors at the hospital are proficient in English and French; they are pursuing second degrees in foreign languages at universities inside and outside the province. This not only helps doctors easily access international medical literature and enhances the effectiveness of technology and experience transfer between Cuban experts and the hospital's medical staff, but also ensures the Provincial Military Hospital is prepared in terms of personnel for treating foreign patients."

As the leading physician in the Neonatal Department, Specialist Doctor II Pham Van Anh is one of the doctors at the Provincial Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital with excellent English communication skills. Becoming a Specialist Doctor II at the young age of 33 and possessing strong English communication abilities, this talented and dynamic female doctor, born in 1988, is still continuing to improve her foreign language skills by enrolling in a second degree program in foreign languages at the University of Foreign Languages ( Hue University).

“I believe that, having worked in the medical field, every doctor always strives to update their knowledge related to medicine and science and technology to meet the ever-increasing demand for medical examination and treatment from the people. Especially when the epidemic situation is becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable. On the journey of updating medical knowledge, English is the key for us to open the door to the world, access the latest and most modern specialized knowledge, and apply that knowledge to treat and care for patients even better,” Dr. Van Anh confided.

The support and cooperation from doctors from Cuba have helped the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital improve the quality of its examination and treatment services.

Immersed in the continuous development of the healthcare sector in the era of integration, Master's degree holder and resident doctor Dinh Phuc Thanh (34 years old), working at the Department of Orthopedics and Burns (Provincial General Hospital), not only hones his professional skills and foreign language proficiency but also contributes many valuable and highly applicable scientific research topics to the provincial healthcare sector.

Driven by a passion for scientific research, for two consecutive years (2023-2024), Master's degree holder and resident physician Dinh Phuc Thanh, along with his colleagues, completed two valuable scientific research projects with high practical applications in bone surgery treatment: Evaluating the results of surgical treatment of closed intertrochanteric femoral fractures using intramedullary nails at Quang Ngai Provincial General Hospital; and Research and application of minimally invasive surgery for tibial fractures at Quang Ngai Provincial General Hospital. These projects have opened a new chapter in bone surgery treatment for patients in Quang Ngai.

According to Master's degree holder and resident physician Dinh Phuc Thanh, when performing surgery on a closed intertrochanteric femoral fracture using conventional methods, patients usually need 10-12 days before they can move. However, with the intramedullary nailing technique, patients can walk again in about 3 days.

“For me, a doctor with strong medical ethics is someone who constantly strives to improve their professional skills to provide the best possible treatment outcomes for patients. With that philosophy in mind, I am always learning. Learning here means gaining valuable experience from senior colleagues; participating in advanced training courses at top-tier hospitals; and regularly reading prestigious medical journals from around the world,” Dr. Thanh shared.

Having excelled and earned his master's degree and residency in 2018 at the young age of 27, Dr. Dinh Phuc Thanh, now 34, is a passionate young doctor aiming to obtain a bachelor's degree in foreign languages by 2026. To achieve this goal, Dr. Thanh is currently pursuing a second degree in English at the University of Da Nang. For Dr. Thanh, in this era of globalization, every doctor needs to integrate medical knowledge and foreign languages to contribute to building an increasingly modern healthcare system and better serving the people.
