The conference was chaired by Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association ; Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; and Mr. Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the Southern region.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, highly appreciated the organization of the 2024 National Press Conference, jointly organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association and Ho Chi Minh City, noting that it was the largest and most successful event ever held.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his pleasure upon learning that in 2023, the Central and local Journalists' Associations had achieved many impressive results. In particular, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department emphasized the strengthened and effective work in ideological education and enhancing the political fortitude of journalists and members of the Vietnam Journalists' Association.
Strengthening and improving the organization of the Vietnam Journalists Association has been a priority, thereby creating unity and solidarity and strongly promoting the Association's role. The Association's working methods have undergone many innovations and creative changes to meet the requirements of a revolutionary and modern press. In addition, activities to educate about the glorious traditions of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism are regularly organized through visits to historical sites, seminars, and discussions on the history of revolutionary journalism.
The Head of the Central Propaganda Department also highly appreciated the results achieved by the Vietnam Journalists Association in 2023, especially the effectiveness of its professional work, with the success of the National Journalism Award, the high-quality journalism support program, seminars, workshops, and training courses on digital journalism, media and communication technology and digital transformation, the international journalism conference "Digital Newsroom Management: Theory, Practice and Experience in the ASEAN Region" and the National Journalism Forum which were very successfully organized during the 2024 National Press Conference.
At the same time, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department noted several key tasks to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association for the 2020-2025 term, the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day, and towards the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association for the 2025-2030 term.
In order to address the issue of violations of the law and professional ethics by journalists still occurring at some levels of the Association and in some media agencies, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department proposed that the Journalists' Association at all levels strengthen propaganda and dissemination work, and enhance inspection and supervision of members, especially resident reporters of media agencies.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia also particularly emphasized the need for innovation to continue maintaining and affirming the position of the National Journalism Award. The National Journalism Award must be the most prestigious and important award of the press nationwide. He also requested that the Party Committee, the Standing Committee, and the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association urgently lead, direct, and effectively implement the preparations for the 12th Vietnam Journalists Congress, term 2025-2030...

The Vietnam Journalists Association is organizing its 2024 National Conference.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, shared: "Through many practical forms and activities, the Association and its branches at all levels have been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party, the State, and the people for effectively fulfilling their role as an organization representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of journalists in their profession, and for educating journalists to comply with the law, regulations, and professional ethics of journalists."
Mr. Le Quoc Minh urged delegates, drawing from their practical work experience and with a sense of responsibility, frankness, and constructiveness, to focus on discussing and objectively evaluating the achievements of 2023, directly addressing existing shortcomings and limitations, clearly identifying their causes, and proposing key tasks and breakthrough solutions to create a strong transformation in journalistic activities and the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the coming period.
Clearly identify the difficulties and challenges arising from the current practical activities of journalism and the Journalists' Association, especially for media agencies and Journalists' Associations at all levels, in implementing the national digital transformation strategy. Discuss and propose solutions to continue innovating and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of leadership and management, as well as in renewing content and methods to increase the attractiveness, quality, and effectiveness of the Journalists' Association's activities.
In his report summarizing the Association's work in 2023 and outlining key tasks for 2024, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi stated that, as of the end of February 2024, the Association had 25,424 members operating in 307 units at all levels (63 provincial and city Journalists' Associations, 21 affiliated branches, and 223 branches directly under the Association), with 13,435 members. The 63 provincial and city Journalists' Associations account for more than 50% of the total number of members nationwide.
In 2023, the "Focusing on the Grassroots" policy of the Party Committee, Standing Committee, Executive Committee, and Standing Board of the Vietnam Journalists Association was implemented synchronously, decisively, and effectively in building, consolidating, and strengthening the Association's organization from the central to the grassroots level; building a stronger Association in terms of organization, professional expertise, inspection and supervision, and promptly protecting the legitimate rights and interests of members and journalists.
In 2024, the theme for the year's activities is: "Continuing to build a strong Journalists Association: Unity - Discipline - Innovation - Creativity - Development", completing the entire term's program, holding congresses at all levels of the Journalists Association towards the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term 2025-2030".
At the conference, delegates also offered opinions and discussions on issues such as enhancing Party discipline and direction in journalistic activities; promoting the improvement of regulations and guidelines to enhance the quality of activities of resident reporter branches at the local level; and improving photography skills for reporters to meet the requirements of multimedia information...
Within the framework of the Conference, the Vietnam Journalists Association also summarized its emulation and reward activities for 2023. It announced the Decisions on awards and presented prizes to collectives, individuals, and units. Specifically, certificates of merit were awarded to 29 Association collectives and 51 individuals for their outstanding achievements in professional work and Association building in 2023.
