Attending the conference were representatives from boarding schools in the province; food suppliers; and businesses that supply meals and food to schools.
Mr. Le Hong Son, Head of the Provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department, delivered the opening remarks at the workshop.
Over the years, food safety assurance in Thanh Hoa province has consistently received close attention and guidance from the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee; coordination from all levels and sectors; the efforts of professional staff; and the increasingly improved awareness of the community. Inspection, monitoring, and supervision activities have been carried out regularly; many models and solutions for food safety management have yielded clear results, making a significant contribution to protecting public health and enhancing public trust in local food products.
However, current practices also present numerous difficulties and challenges: violations of food safety regulations remain complex; raw materials are not thoroughly controlled; consumer demand is increasingly diverse; and, in particular, ensuring food safety in school cafeterias and food suppliers for students is a matter of concern for the entire society.
In this context, the system of legal documents related to food safety continues to be improved, especially the new regulations from the Central Government and the directives of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee on the decentralization of food safety management into two levels: provincial and commune. This management trend both facilitates more proactive and practical action from local authorities and requires improved capacity, enhanced coordination, and increased responsibility at all stages, from state management to implementation.
The presenter updated the audience on some new regulations regarding food safety.
At the workshop, delegates were updated on Decree 68/2025/ND-CP amending and supplementing Decree 118/2021 on handling administrative violations; Decree 217/2025/ND-CP on specialized inspection activities; Decree 214/2025/ND-CP guiding the selection of contractors for school canteens; and the situation of food safety assurance in the province.
Delegates discuss at the workshop.
Simultaneously, discussions will focus on prominent issues in the management of school kitchens, meal providers, and food suppliers; exchange and propose feasible solutions that align with new regulations and practical requirements, contributing to the creation of a safe, healthy, and sustainable educational environment; and share practical experiences, difficulties, and obstacles, proposing solutions to improve the effectiveness of food safety management in the new context.
