Attending the conference were representatives of boarding schools in the province; food suppliers; and businesses supplying meals and food to schools.
Head of the Provincial Food Safety Sub-Department Le Hong Son delivered the opening speech at the workshop.
In recent years, the work of ensuring food safety in Thanh Hoa province has always received close attention and direction from the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee; the coordination of all levels and sectors; along with the efforts of professional staff and the increasingly raised awareness of the community. Inspection, examination, and supervision work has been regularly deployed; many models and solutions for food safety management have brought about clear results, contributing significantly to protecting people's health and enhancing social trust in local food products and goods.
However, current practice is also posing many difficulties and challenges: violations of food safety regulations are still complicated; raw material sources have not been thoroughly controlled; consumer demand is increasingly diverse; and especially, ensuring food safety in school kitchens, facilities providing meals and food for students is an issue of concern to the whole society.
In that context, the system of legal documents related to food safety continues to be improved, especially the new regulations of the Central Government and the directive documents of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province on decentralizing food safety management to 2 levels: provincial and communal levels. This management trend not only creates conditions for local authorities to be more proactive and practical, but also requires capacity improvement, increased coordination and increased responsibility at all stages, from state management to implementation organization.
The reporter updated some new text content on food safety work.
