These days, at Viet My Vocational College, driver training activities continue regularly, covering everything from theoretical lessons and simulator training to practical driving on real roads. According to the school, on average, they organize about 4 to 5 driver training courses each year, with over 3,000 students participating. To support the training, the school has equipped itself with approximately 170 training vehicles of various categories.
Mr. Pham Duc Thuan, Principal of Viet My Vocational College, said: "Students are required to complete all theoretical content, driving practice, and basic skills before practicing on the road. Training vehicles are also regularly inspected. In addition, teachers and students are strictly controlled and are not allowed to use stimulants that affect the learning process. If a situation is unsafe, the instructor will resolutely refuse to participate in teaching and learning, in order to ensure safety during the training process."
Along with improving the quality of training, ensuring vehicle safety is also a priority for many training centers. Captain Dang Quang Toan, Deputy Head of the Driving Training Team of the unit, shared: During practical training, instructors must always closely monitor students, especially in situations involving turning, merging lanes, or driving on busy roads.
In reality, the increasing number of trainees, along with the need to expand vehicles and practice time, also puts more pressure on training facilities. If vehicles are not regularly maintained or practice sessions are not organized appropriately, the risk of accidents is entirely possible. Especially on busy roads or those with high traffic speeds, new trainees can easily become confused when handling situations if they lack timely guidance from instructors.
Mr. Tran Van Long, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, said: Following the directives of the Ministry of Construction regarding driver training in the new situation, the department has disseminated the contents and documents of the Ministry of Construction to all training facilities in the province. The Department of Construction also requested training facilities to review their infrastructure and strictly comply with regulations on driving practice permits.
Specifically, all actions involving unauthorized or prohibited routes, or routes not yet in use, are strictly prohibited. Through inspections and controls, the Department of Construction has also taken action against violators and revoked driving practice permits in accordance with regulations. In the future, the Department of Construction will continue to strengthen inspections of driving schools; tighten regulations on vehicles, instructors, and on-road practice to improve training quality and ensure traffic safety.
Driver training not only helps students master vehicle control skills but also fosters awareness of traffic laws and traffic culture. And, to ensure each new driver is more confident when participating in traffic, seriousness is needed from training facilities to the management and supervision of relevant authorities...
