The Hanoi Women's Newspaper and the Vietnam National Petroleum Group recently inaugurated a boarding house at Chieng Dong Secondary School in Chieng Dong commune, Tuan Giao district, Dien Bien province. This project by the Hanoi Women's Newspaper is a practical way to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Hanoi City Party Committee (March 17, 1930 - March 17, 2025); and to respond to the special emulation campaign to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.

Chieng Dong Secondary School in Tuan Giao District has 30 administrators and teachers currently caring for and educating 452 students. Of these, 97% are ethnic minority students; 82 Mong ethnic minority students are currently boarding at the school. Most of their families are farmers with very difficult economic conditions. Chieng Dong Secondary School is currently equipped with 9 classrooms, 6 subject rooms, and offices as per regulations; however, it still lacks sufficient boarding facilities for students.

At the inauguration ceremony of the boarding house, Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Women's Newspaper, Le Quynh Trang, emotionally stated that to have this spacious boarding house, the Hanoi Women's Newspaper's delegation had visited Chieng Dong Secondary School three times. The first trip was in early 2024 to understand the difficulties and needs of the students and the school. Following this, the newspaper actively connected and coordinated with the Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation to provide 450 million VND in funding to build a boarding house for ethnic minority students. The second trip by the newspaper and its partner to Chieng Dong was to begin construction in September 2024. And this third visit marked the inauguration of the 80m2 boarding house with four rooms. The completed project has provided students with more spacious and comfortable living conditions. The Editor-in-Chief expressed confidence that the project will further motivate the students to strive for better academic performance.

According to Ms. Le Quynh Trang, in 2024, the Hanoi Women's Newspaper actively solicited 3.5 billion VND in social funding from the Vietnam National Petroleum Group to support 40 houses of compassion and charity for women in difficult circumstances in 30 districts and counties in Hanoi, worth 2 billion VND; to build a boarding house for students at Pac Nga Secondary School, Bac Yen district, Son La province, worth 250 million VND; and to build a kitchen and dining room for students at Nam Can 2 Primary School, Ky Son district, Nghe An province, worth 240 million VND... To date, all social welfare activities in 2024 have been completed, and the funds have been used for the right purposes and given to the right beneficiaries, receiving recognition and high praise from local Party committees, authorities, and the community.
As we enter 2025, Ms. Le Quynh Trang believes that the journey of compassion will continue with new projects and initiatives in disadvantaged areas.
At the event, the Hanoi Women's Newspaper also awarded scholarships to 20 underprivileged students with excellent academic achievements from Chieng Dong Secondary School.
