Strong innovation to meet new demands
Speaking at the commemorative event, journalist Nguyen Khac Van, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of SGGP Newspaper, shared that 100 years is a glorious journey, but also a reminder of the responsibility to continue. Journalism today and in the future must constantly strive for improvement, perfecting itself, applying technology, integrating internationally, and enhancing professional quality and ethics, worthy of being a core force in the development of a prosperous and happy nation.

According to journalist Nguyen Khac Van, for the Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, throughout its half-century journey, each publication has been the culmination of the dedication, intellect, and sense of responsibility of generations of journalists, always closely following the current events and promptly reflecting the political and social life of the city named after President Ho Chi Minh.
"As the trusted voice of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper always adheres to its principles and objectives, fulfills its political tasks, constantly innovates and modernizes its content and format, strengthens the application of technology, expands its digital media platform, and pays special attention to reaching young readers - the force that will inherit and shape the future of the country," journalist Nguyen Khac Van expressed.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Tang Huu Phong, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, shared his joy with the Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper at the 43rd Ho Chi Minh City Journalism Awards - 2025, when the Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper won two first prizes. This shows the serious investment and the increasingly improved quality of the newspaper's content.
Comrade Tang Huu Phong commented: "The SGGP newspaper has closely followed the mainstream news of the whole country and the city, with many articles creating a positive social impact and receiving great attention from readers." In addition, the SGGP Online publication has also made a significant breakthrough, attracting a large number of readers seeking out official information sources.
In particular, the social activities beyond the newspaper's coverage, and the programs for students in remote areas implemented by SGGP newspaper in recent times, have made a profound impact and spread strongly throughout the country.

Referring to the current historical moment of the country, Comrade Tang Huu Phong suggested that the press needs strong innovation, not only to meet the demands of society but also stemming from the inherent requirements and demands of journalistic activity.
"The Saigon Giai Phong newspaper needs to accelerate the process of streamlining its organizational structure and building a highly skilled team of journalists capable of assuming a pivotal role in the Ho Chi Minh City press system," Comrade Tang Huu Phong requested.
Comrade Tang Huu Phong also expressed his hope that the Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper would continue to expand its programs beyond the printed page, strengthen community connections, and make practical contributions to social development.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day, Comrade Tang Huu Phong sent his congratulations to the entire team of journalists, expressing his confidence that SGGP Newspaper will continue to make breakthroughs, maintain its leading role, and leave a lasting impression on its readers.


Additional awards for winning journalistic works at all levels.
On this occasion, nine journalists from SGGP Newspaper were awarded the "For the Cause of Vietnamese Journalism" commemorative medal by the Vietnam Journalists Association for their 15-20 years of dedication to professional journalism.
The SGGP newspaper also awarded outstanding achievements to collectives and individuals; and gave additional awards to authors and groups of authors who won the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award for their work "Wastefulness - Internal Enemy," which had already won the C Prize. At the same time, additional awards were given to authors who won the Ho Chi Minh City Journalism Award and other specialized awards for 19 works.
Spreading positive values
At the celebration, SGGP Newspaper, in coordination with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, organized the closing ceremony and awarded prizes for the "Shining Vietnamese Values" competition 2023-2025, jointly organized by the two units.
The competition is a practical activity that contributes to spreading positive values and limiting negative aspects in society.


The competition also aims to encourage journalistic works that honor collectives and individuals whose actions, models, and solutions promote patriotism, national self-reliance, and inspire aspirations for national development.
It also honors collectives or individuals with outstanding achievements in various fields, or models, research projects, and innovations that affirm the intellectual prowess of Vietnam in national and international arenas; and actions and solutions that bring benefits to society.
The competition received over 600 entries, including written articles and video clips, in various genres: reportage, documentary, reflection, interviews, etc.
SGGP newspaper has selected 263 articles and video clips to publish about outstanding individuals and positive stories.

Over the past two years, the competition has attracted participation from many renowned writers, along with a large number of youth union members, students, and pupils from across the country. Many outstanding articles and video clips have been selected for publication on the SGGP Newspaper's ecosystem and the Central Youth Union's social media platforms.
After review, the Organizing Committee selected 32 entries (19 articles, 13 video clips) to award prizes, including: 1 First Prize for articles, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, and 26 Consolation Prizes. The Binh Dinh Provincial Youth Union, with 70 entries, won the award for the unit with the most entries.

The total value of the prizes is over 1 billion VND.
The prizes include: First prize of 50 million VND and a Canon EOS RP camera worth 30 million VND; Second prize of 30 million VND and a Canon EOS RP camera worth 30 million VND; Third prize of 25 million VND and an EOS RP camera worth 30 million VND; Consolation prize of 10 million VND and a Canon G1010 printer worth 3 million VND. The prize for the group with the most entries is 10 million VND.

Following the awards ceremony, SGGP Newspaper, in collaboration with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, launched the "Shining Vietnamese Values" competition for 2025-2026.
