On August 26, according to statistics from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province, storm No. 5 Kajiki injured 2 people in Hung Chau and Quynh Mai communes. Economic damage was about 846 billion VND.
The whole province has 2,189 houses affected, of which 1,622 houses had their roofs blown off, were severely damaged and 462 houses were deeply flooded. 14 schools were damaged, had their roofs blown off, in localities such as Than Linh, Vinh Loc, Van An, Nam Dan, Binh Minh, Quynh Chau, Quang Dong, Giai Lac, Vinh Tuong and Trung Loc.
Regarding health , three facilities in Than Linh, Hung Yen Nam and Bich Hao were seriously damaged, disrupting medical examination and treatment, directly affecting the lives of thousands of people.
13,361.5 hectares of rice and 2,014 hectares of crops and vegetables were completely or partially damaged, 155 cattle, 250 poultry were swept away and 21 barns were damaged. The irrigation system recorded 1,700m of canals being eroded and swept away. 419.7 hectares of traditional fish farming area were damaged, affecting the income of hundreds of aquaculture households.
The storm knocked down 678 power poles across the province, causing many areas to experience prolonged power outages, making it difficult for repair work, communication, and people's daily lives.
Currently, 868,000 customers are without power. The areas most affected are the old Vinh City, Cua Lo, Nghi Loc, Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Yen Thanh and the old Hoang Mai town. The old Vinh City alone suffered widespread power outages due to fallen trees, which broke wires and many electric poles.
Nghe An provincial authorities are mobilizing all forces to overcome the damage, support people to stabilize their lives, and at the same time compile detailed statistics of affected items to deploy timely support plans.
