On August 27, despite the heavy rain, many people from all over flocked to the center of Hanoi to watch the State-level rehearsal of the A80 parade. On the streets around Ba Dinh Square, tents were set up in advance and became a place to stop, take shelter from the rain, and also a special "grandstand" for thousands of people.
According to the plan of the Hanoi People's Committee, 10 makeshift tents will be set up at 5 key locations: Tay Son flower garden, Le Truc flower garden, Nui Truc - Kim Ma intersection, Hanoi train station and the area opposite 14B Le Truc.
The installation work was chaired by the Hanoi Capital Command, in coordination with the ward authorities, to ensure order and safety for the people.
Although it is just a makeshift canvas roof, with a scientific and neat organization, the construction sites all have functional forces on duty to ensure safety, environmental sanitation and fire prevention and fighting.
“My friends and I took the night train to Hanoi and got off the train when it was pouring rain. While we were looking for a place, we saw a tent set up in front of the station with a sign saying ‘Tent serving the people’. Inside, it was much drier and more comfortable, and we could watch the parade pass by. I was really surprised and touched by the city’s thoughtful preparations,” said Hoang Ngan, 24, from Hai Phong .
Not only spectators from afar, many families in Hanoi also sought out the tent as a safe "shelter". Ms. Nguyen Bich Lan (26 years old, living in Thuong Tin) was there with her two young children at 4am. After the heavy rain, she quickly brought her children into the tent to avoid the cold. "I wanted my children to see the parade atmosphere with their own eyes. Luckily there was a tent, otherwise if they had stood outside in the rain, they would have definitely gotten sick. This is truly a precious 'grandstand' for families with young children like us," Ms. Lan said.
Previously, the Hanoi People's Committee also installed more than 1,000 public toilets to serve the grand ceremony. The total number of toilets deployed includes 612 mobile toilets and 479 free socialized toilets. These facilities are located in key areas such as Ba Dinh Square; main streets such as Dien Bien Phu, Tran Nhan Tong, Le Duan; Thong Nhat Park; fireworks display sites, major cultural events.
After 4 general training sessions at National Military Training Center 4 (Mieu Mon) and 2 general training sessions at Ba Dinh Square, the forces will have a State-level preliminary review tonight.
According to plan, more than 40,000 people will participate in the State-level rehearsal of the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 at Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on August 27, Hanoi will be cloudy with moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain, gradually decreasing in the afternoon. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature is 23-25 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature is 28-30 degrees Celsius.
