The event attracted the participation of over 150 delegates from both countries, including the Vietnamese delegation including representatives from the Trade Promotion Agency, the Import-Export Department, the Vietnam Trade Office in Cambodia, the An Giang Department of Industry and Trade and nearly 50 dynamic businesses operating in many fields.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Sokha Ram, Deputy Governor of Svay Rieng Province, highly appreciated the significance of this important conference and believed that this is an opportunity for businesses of the two countries to strengthen cooperation and network connection for successful business. On the side of Svay Rieng Province, Mr. Sokha Ram affirmed that the locality will create all favorable conditions to attract new investors, take care of old investors, and especially will provide maximum support for Vietnamese investors to invest in the industrial park system with many preferential policies of Svay Rieng Province.
Mr. Oknha Sok Rado, Chairman of the Svay Rieng Chamber of Commerce, also affirmed that the conference is a favorable opportunity for businesses to introduce and exchange products, learn about each other's trade and investment potential, contributing to the development of a close, friendly, traditional, and long-term sustainable neighborly relationship.
Mr. Bui Quang Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Trade Promotion
At the conference, Mr. Bui Quang Hung, Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, said that border trade between Vietnam and Cambodia has many valuable meanings. In particular, Svay Rieng province is an important border area, a dynamic trade gateway between the two countries. In recent years, the exchange of goods, agricultural cooperation, border trade, investment in production and tourism between Vietnamese enterprises and Svay Rieng province have achieved many positive results.
Vietnam's main export items to the Svay Rieng and Cambodian markets include processed agricultural products, construction materials, consumer goods, machinery and equipment, fertilizers and plastic products... In the opposite direction, Cambodia mainly exports to Vietnam cashew nuts, rubber, and many other strong agricultural products such as rice, mango, pineapple, papaya, honey and cassava starch...
In terms of commodity structure, trade between Vietnam and the Svay Rieng and Cambodian markets is clearly complementary. Both countries are aiming to reach a turnover of 20 billion USD in the coming time.
The signing of the Vietnam-Cambodia Bilateral Trade Promotion Agreement for the 2025-2026 period in April 2025 has created a great momentum for bilateral trade activities by reducing tariffs, improving customs procedures, and enhancing supply chain connectivity. In addition, both countries' participation in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) has contributed to enhancing infrastructure and logistics connectivity, as well as promoting cross-border trade.
Mr. Bui Quang Hung said that it is necessary to identify new cooperation directions to develop bilateral trade relations to a higher level. First of all, the two sides need to maximize the complementarity of the commodity structure, form and consolidate value chains, especially in the fields of agricultural products, processing industry, construction materials and consumer goods. At the same time, it is necessary to step up trade promotion activities, organize fairs, exhibitions and annual business forums in both Vietnam and Cambodia, thereby creating conditions for businesses to meet, cooperate and connect in the long term.
At the same time, the two countries need to make the most of the incentives from the signed trade agreements, proactively coordinate to remove non-tariff barriers and improve the competitiveness of goods. In addition to traditional solutions, it is necessary to focus on developing border trade infrastructure, facilitating the transportation of goods, promoting cooperation in the fields of logistics, e-commerce and digital transformation to reduce circulation costs, improve business efficiency and be in line with the current globalization trend. More importantly, it is necessary to increase information exchange, build a regular coordination mechanism between trade promotion agencies, trade management, and at the same time encourage businesses of both sides to directly invest in each other, towards sustainable development and balanced interests.
According to Mr. Bui Quang Hung, Vietnam is ready to cooperate and share advantages with Svay Rieng through the fields of agricultural products, food and high-quality consumer goods; machinery, equipment, agricultural materials directly serving production; construction materials, light industrial products supporting infrastructure development; logistics services and e-commerce to help shorten the supply chain...
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Duy Linh Thao, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of An Giang province, said that An Giang is a province with a border of nearly 148 km, adjacent to the provinces of Takeo, Kampot and Kandal of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The province has 03 international border gates (Tinh Bien, Vinh Xuong, Ha Tien) and 02 main border gates (Giang Thanh, Khanh Binh), creating favorable conditions for trade and import-export activities. Ms. Thao hopes that An Giang enterprises will have more conditions to grasp the needs and tastes of Cambodian consumers (including prices, designs, packaging) to optimize exports.
Within the framework of the conference, Vietnamese and Svay Rieng enterprises directly met, exchanged information, introduced enterprises and products suitable for the consumption needs of the Cambodian market. The networking sessions immediately after the conference took place enthusiastically, demonstrating the determination of enterprises from both sides in expanding cooperation and promoting sustainable trade.
This event not only contributes to strengthening the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, but also creates a foundation for businesses of the two countries to build an effective supply chain, aiming at long-term and sustainable market development.
