The Vietnamese women's volleyball team has said goodbye to the 2025 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship after three defeats. The losses to Poland, Germany and Kenya have caused significant damage to the Vietnamese team in the FIVB rankings.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team only lost 0.01 points in the loss to Poland, due to 1 win and a huge difference in rankings (the opponent was ranked 3rd in the world). In the loss to Germany, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team lost more points (6.26 points).
The heaviest defeat for Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and her teammates was the match against Kenya last night (August 27). The Vietnamese team lost to Kenya and was deducted 12.77 points due to the defeat against the lower ranked team (the difference before the match was nearly 5 points).

Thus, after 3 losses, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team lost 19.04 points and dropped 6 places compared to before participating in the world championship in Thailand. This number is even more than the number of points that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team got in 4 matches of the SEA V.League (winning 2 matches against Indonesia and the Philippines, the remaining 2 matches against Thailand were not counted).
In fact, the fact that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was deducted points and relegated was a prediction. At the world championship, Thanh Thuy and her teammates faced very strong opponents. Even winning 1 set in each match was very difficult.

Kenya is considered the weakest team among the three opponents in the group. In a friendly match before the tournament, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team easily defeated this opponent. However, the performance in the final match of the group stage showed that the African team's true level is higher.
Kenya has actually participated in the World Cup 7 times and made it to the Olympics. In the match against Vietnam, they used their physical strength to completely dominate both in attack and blocking.
"From the beginning, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team came here knowing that all their opponents were very strong. The Vietnamese team played below their ability in this match. The athletes did not perform to their full potential and were caught up in Kenya's powerful playing style. Through this match, they will see where they are. As a coach, I also realized what I would have to overcome to return to this playground in the future, " said coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet after losing to Kenya.
