So, since the SEA V.League until now, Bich Tuyen has not returned to the national team. She withdrew from the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship at the last minute for personal reasons.
In the second phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship, Bich Tuyen also did not compete for LPBank Ninh Binh due to injury. The 2000-born setter was registered as a caretaker, raising doubts about her ability to participate in the SEA Games.
And indeed, these doubts came true. In the list that the Vietnam Volleyball Federation announced on October 19, Bich Tuyen's name was not on it. Due to not continuously concentrating on the national team and playing for the club, Bich Tuyen's performance was assessed as not guaranteed.
Instead, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet chose 3 people for the opposite setter position: Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Dang Thi Kim Thanh and Doan Thi Xuan.
Kieu Trinh is not as explosive as Bich Tuyen but has been stable over the years. Kim Thanh has just had a successful season when she helped VTV Binh Dien Long An win the national championship. Doan Thi Xuan can be considered a backup solution, as she has also played well for XMLS Thanh Hoa.
Some young faces given favorable conditions this time include Pham Quynh Huong, Hoang Hong Hanh, Bui Thi Anh Thao, Nguyen Phuong Quynh, Le Nhu Anh, Le Thuy Linh, and Ha Kieu Vy.
It is known that in this training session, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will have a training trip in Quang Ninh for 2 months to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games. 2 athletes Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Tran Thi Bich Thuy are busy participating in the Japanese National Championship so their names are not on this list.
However, they will still be able to join the team to attend the SEA Games.
