On the evening of August 27, host Indonesia lost to Australia's U16 women's team 0-3 in the second semi-final of the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Women's Championship.

For Thailand U16 women, the final will be a chance for them to "take revenge" after the 1-2 defeat in the group stage against Australia. Thailand U16 women are the defending champions and have won 3 out of 4 times the tournament has been held. Australia is the remaining champion.

For the Vietnam U16 women's team, this is the fourth third-place match in the team's history. Previously, the Vietnamese girls won the bronze medal three times in 2009, 2018 and 2019. After the defeat in the semi-finals, coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team certainly did not want to return empty-handed.

As for Indonesia, this is an opportunity for the home team to win the bronze medal for the first time after 3 times stopping in the group stage.

In the list of the Indonesian U16 women's team at the tournament, there are some players who have been called up to the U20 level, but there are also many names who have never had international competition experience.

"We have recruited some players from the U20 team, they have played there and have experience. But most of the players still lack a lot of experience, these are the future players of Indonesia," said coach Timo Scheunemann.
