The delegation visited the high-quality longan growing area of Luc Son Agricultural Service Cooperative.
Here, the delegation visited the fresh longan processing and packaging line at Thanh Hai Agricultural Cooperative (Chu Ward). Thanh Hai Agricultural Cooperative has many years of experience in packaging lychees for export to the European market and has been granted a packaging code for longan products exported to the Australian market. On average, the cooperative ensures the packaging of about 1 ton of export-quality longan per day.
Next, the delegation visited the high-quality longan growing area of Luc Son Agricultural Service Cooperative (Luc Son commune). Currently, the cooperative has 70 members with 10.5 hectares of longan trees grown according to GlobalGap standards, producing approximately 30 tons, meeting export standards. This is the first time fresh longan from the cooperative has been exported to the Australian market by The Garden Vietnam Joint Stock Company.
Joining the delegation, Mr. Hoang Khac Dinh, General Director of The Garden Vietnam Joint Stock Company, said that the company has signed an agreement with Luc Son Agricultural Service Cooperative to purchase longan directly from the orchards at a price of 25,000 VND/kg for export to the Australian market. To date, the company has purchased 16 tons of longan for export to Australia. Initial results show that fresh longan is generally selling well in the Australian market, with stable prices.
However, in the long term, for lychee from cooperatives in Bac Ninh province to compete and stand firm in the Australian market, and to expand exports to other potential markets, according to Mr. Hoang Khac Dinh, relevant sectors and localities need to continue directing cooperatives to promote the production of lychee according to safety standards; create a linked chain with traceability and production conditions that meet domestic and export consumption requirements.
The Garden Vietnam Joint Stock Company will continue to collaborate and work alongside lychee growers to increase production and ensure the highest quality fresh lychee products to meet export demands to Australia in the coming years.

After visiting the production model and packaging facility, leaders from the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Industry and Trade highly appreciated the quality of fresh longan fruit from the cooperatives and acknowledged the proactive efforts of businesses in successfully participating in the export of fresh longan fruit to the Australian market.
Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Industry and Trade requested that lychee growers continue to promote production according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, attach planting area codes, organize production through cooperatives, create production linkage and product consumption models along the value chain; and attract businesses to participate in linkages to expand export markets.
In the coming period, relevant departments and agencies of the province will continue to create favorable conditions and provide support to promote opportunities for the longan market; encourage the development of cooperatives and linkages in the production and consumption of agricultural products; build mechanisms and policies to encourage businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas; and policies for transferring science and technology into the production of the province's key agricultural products.
According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province currently has 3,641 hectares of longan orchards, with an estimated yield of 24,183 tons. Of this, late-season longan accounts for over 600 hectares, with 2,500 hectares producing according to VietGAP standards, 10 hectares certified under VietGAP, and 10 hectares certified under GlobalGAP. The main varieties used are: Hung Yen cage longan, Huong Chi, Ha Tay 6, Mien Thiet, etc. The longan harvest period is from July 25th to September 20th, and approximately 12,000 tons have been harvested so far, concentrated in communes and wards such as Luc Son, Dong Ky, and Phuong Son.
