Barca's dream is broken

Barcelona face the risk of failure in their attempt to return to La Liga's 1:1 rule before the 2025 summer transfer window closes.

With just 10 days left before the transfer window closes, Barcelona must act quickly.

According to Sport , Barcelona are facing serious difficulties in returning to La Liga's 1:1 rule - a rule that allows clubs to sign and register new players. Despite months of efforts, all hope seems lost as the summer transfer window closes in early September.

At the beginning of August, Barcelona seemed to be able to overcome their persistent financial problems, but until the second round of La Liga, the club was unable to register contracts for a number of important players such as defender Gerard Martin, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, midfielders Roony Bardghji and Marc Bernal.

It was only before the La Liga opener on August 17 that the club was able to complete the registration of Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford. These difficulties stemmed from Barcelona’s failure to meet the 1:1 rule, which requires revenue to be equal to expenditure.

To improve the situation, Barcelona is counting on player sales to ease the financial burden. At the same time, they are trying to get approval for a deal to lease 475 VIP seats at Camp Nou for 100 million euros.

However, time does not seem to be on their side, as the process is stalling. According to RAC1 , the possibility of Barcelona ending the transfer window without being able to meet La Liga's 1:1 rule is very high.

If that happens, Barca will not be able to register defender Gerard Martin, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, midfielder Roony Bardghji and Marc Bernal, forcing coach Hansi Flick to use a very thin squad. Szczesny is expected to be the club's second goalkeeper, a backup for Garcia. If Garcia is injured, Barca will have no quality replacement.
