Arrest of illegal sand mining subjects

The Economic Police Department, Quang Tri Provincial Police, has just coordinated with Bac Gianh Ward Police to arrest a subject who illegally exploited about 15m3 of sand and temporarily seized nearly 1,400m3 of sand with signs of violations.

Accordingly, at 8:20 a.m. on July 12, the working group of the Economic Police Department, Quang Tri Provincial Police presided over and coordinated with Bac Gianh Ward Police to monitor, ambush and arrest Mr. Hoang Van Hung (born in 1979), Ms. Hoang Thi Hien (born in 1984), both residing in Nam Gianh Commune, Quang Tri Province, for illegally mining sand on Gianh River in Thuan Bai Residential Group, Bac Gianh Ward, Quang Tri Province.

The initial volume of sand was determined to be about ^15m3 . Mr. Hung and Ms. Hien, after mining, transported it to the construction material gathering area of General Construction and Trading Company 179 to resell to Mr. Ma Thanh Hai (born in 1964), the Company Director.

During the inspection, Mr. Hoang Van Hung and Ms. Hoang Thi Hien could not present documents and papers related to mineral exploitation activities of competent state agencies at the exploitation location and admitted to illegal sand exploitation. In addition, at the illegal sand gathering location, the Economic Police Department, Quang Tri Provincial Police also discovered and temporarily seized an additional ^1,389m3 of river sand with signs of violations; at the same time, a record of the incident was drawn up for handling according to legal regulations.
