Getting back into the swing of things after Tet.

After the Lunar New Year, re-establishing routines is a top priority, focusing on helping children get back into the swing of things and adults refocus on work. Parents should patiently re-establish schedules, tidy up the house, and create a cheerful atmosphere to reduce stress, allowing the whole family to return to normal life smoothly and effectively.

The family of Ms. Kim Thi Sau Rieng in Hamlet 3, Vinh Thuan Dong Commune, always cares for and supports their children's studies after Tet.

After the Lunar New Year celebrations, many parents realize that their children haven't immediately adjusted to studying. Children still stay up late, wake up late, are used to watching TV, playing games, etc. Instead of pushing and pressuring them, many families choose to gradually adjust their children's daily routines, creating a sufficient "buffer" for them to adapt.

Ms. Tran Thi Hong Nhung, a parent with a child in 12th grade in Thanh Quoi commune, shared that before Tet (Lunar New Year), she and her husband had a thorough discussion with their child about the importance of the high school graduation exam. Therefore, the family agreed to only celebrate the holiday and visit relatives until the third day of Tet. From the fourth day onwards, her child resumed studying, gradually increasing the workload each day. “Thanks to the family proactively creating a new schedule, from sleep time and study time to leisure time, my child quickly got back into studying and didn't feel sluggish. In my opinion, agreeing on the plan early helps the child have a fulfilling Tet while maintaining their motivation when returning to school,” Ms. Nhung shared.

For Mrs. Bui Thi Xu, the simple joy of the New Year is seeing her granddaughter get back into the swing of studying. Because her granddaughter lacked a mother's love from a young age, she carefully looked after her, buying her new clothes and school supplies before the New Year. From the fifth day of Tet (Lunar New Year), she maintained regular family meals, reminded her granddaughter to prepare her lessons and homework, and tidied up her study area. Every morning, she woke her granddaughter up on time and discouraged her from staying up late watching TV. Mrs. Xu recounted: “My granddaughter is in seventh grade. To help her get back into the swing of things after Tet, I showed concern but gently reminded her, without imposing anything, so she became self-motivated and enthusiastic about studying right from the first days of spring.”

According to many parents, compared to previous years, the trend of shortening the Tet holiday atmosphere, limiting parties, and maintaining regular family meals is being chosen by many families. This approach not only helps children return to their routines sooner but also creates a ready and relaxed mindset when returning to school.

Cao Thảo My, a 9th-grade student at Lê Quí Đôn Secondary School in Vị Thanh ward, said: “My goal is to study well so I can pass the entrance exam for the specialized literature class this year. Therefore, I maintain a regular study schedule even during Tet.” From the 4th day of Tet, My spent time solving problems, reviewing difficult parts, and identifying subjects she was weak in to improve herself. Her mother guided her to break down assignments into smaller parts and proactively review the material beforehand. Thanks to this, she found studying much easier.

For 12th and 9th graders, the period after Tet (Lunar New Year) is considered a crucial time for "accelerating" their studies. However, many students believe that returning to the learning rhythm early doesn't necessarily mean overloading themselves with studies. The key is to re-establish discipline, concentration, and a self-learning spirit. Ms. Kim Thi Sau Rieng from Hamlet 3, Vinh Thuan Dong Commune, said: "Along with reminding them to study, I advise my children to maintain light exercise, play sports with their neighbors, get enough sleep, and avoid staying up late. When their health and spirits are ensured, studying after Tet will be effective, avoiding the mentality of just going through the motions."

Besides accompanying their children, parents also play a crucial role in stabilizing family life after Tet (Lunar New Year). From rearranging the house and meals to professional work, many parents proactively get back into the swing of things early to create balance and set a good example for their children. Ms. Le Thi Kim Oanh, an office worker in Vi Thanh ward, said that after Tet, she usually organizes her work and sets specific goals for each week. When she works according to a plan, she feels relaxed, less stressed, and it's easier to maintain order for her family.

After the bustling Lunar New Year holidays, it's the right and practical approach for each family to get back to their familiar routines. From the patience of parents and the initiative of children to the sense of responsibility of adults in their work and family life, all contribute to a smooth and effective start. As life gradually stabilizes, New Year's goals are no longer a source of pressure, but rather a motivation for each family to strive for success in their studies, work, and family life.
