Dr. Pham Van Vinh – The "Keeper of the Flame" in Primary Healthcare

With nearly 25 years of dedication to the medical field, Dr. Pham Van Vinh, a specialist in internal medicine and currently working at the My Yen Commune Health Station in Tay Ninh Province, is a shining example of dedication to learning and service to the people.

Born and raised in Can Duoc, Dr. Pham Van Vinh (born in 1978) chose to dedicate himself to grassroots healthcare. Since graduating as a Medical Assistant from Long An Medical College in 1999, he has continuously strived for excellence.

After completing his General Practitioner program at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, he returned to work at the Phuoc Loi Commune Health Station (now My Yen Commune).

Driven by a desire to provide the best possible healthcare for the public, from 2014 to 2017, he continued to hone his expertise in Public Health, pursuing a Specialist Level I degree at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy. This solid foundation of knowledge enabled him to effectively handle cases ranging from chronic to urgent illnesses at the health station.

On average, Dr. Vinh personally examines 600-700 patients each month. In his small examination room, he patiently listens and meticulously explains to elderly people suffering from hypertension, diabetes, or bone and joint problems.

Doctor Vinh confided: “At the commune level, people come not only because of physical pain but also because of trust. Seeing people adhere to the treatment protocol, with stable blood pressure and blood sugar levels, is what motivates me to continue striving every day.”

Mr. Tran Van Thanh (72 years old, My Yen commune) shared: “I have been examined by Doctor Vinh for many years. Doctor Vinh is not only skilled but also very kind, always reminding me to come back for follow-up appointments on time. Thanks to him, my condition has stabilized significantly.”

Not only is Dr. Vinh highly skilled professionally, but he is also a pioneer in applying information technology to patient management and is decisive in disease prevention and control efforts in the locality. After successfully operating the two-tiered local government model, he continues to affirm his pivotal role at the My Yen Commune Health Station.

In recognition of those quiet but valuable contributions, in 2024, Dr. Pham Van Vinh was awarded the title of Provincial-level Emulation Soldier.
