Associate Professor, Doctor Hoang Thi Diem Tuyet, Director of Hung Vuong Hospital, said that Hung Vuong Hospital still accepts foreign patients for treatment and is always asked: "Has the hospital achieved any international standard certifications yet?".
Therefore, the hospital's achievement of ACHSI international hospital quality certification is a favorable condition that helps the hospital in particular and Ho Chi Minh City in general to promote medical tourism and attract foreign patients.
Addressing concerns from many patients about whether public hospitals achieving international quality standards will increase prices, Associate Professor Diem Tuyet affirmed: "Our goal is to provide patients with international-standard medical services at a cost that is affordable for Vietnamese people. We will not increase prices simply because we have achieved international certification."
According to Associate Professor Diem Tuyet, some advanced techniques such as assisted reproductive technology at the hospital attract more foreigners for treatment than in other areas.
Currently, the cost of assisted reproductive treatment at Hung Vuong Hospital is only one-quarter of the cost of assisted reproductive treatment in the region.
For example, the current cost of assisted reproductive technology at Hung Vuong Hospital is approximately 50-70 million VND. Meanwhile, in Singapore, this cost is around 12,000 Singapore dollars (nearly 230 million VND).
In Vietnam, currently only Hung Vuong Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City is a public hospital that meets international standards. The number of private hospitals meeting international quality standards is greater than that of public hospitals. Mr. Nguyen Trong Khoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health , provided this information at a recent conference in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Associate Professor Diem Tuyet, ACHSI is the oldest, largest, and most leading organization providing hospital quality certification in Australia.
Achsi certification means the hospital has complied with and maintained rigorous standards for healthcare services, helping to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
Public hospitals are facing many challenges.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Khoa, public hospitals are facing many challenges such as overcrowding, difficulties in financial autonomy, procurement, and bidding.
Other challenges include the migration of highly qualified medical personnel from public hospitals to private hospitals, a shortage of highly skilled professionals in specialized fields and management, and poor infrastructure.
