Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Thi Diem Tuyet, Director of Hung Vuong Hospital, said that Hung Vuong Hospital still accepts foreign patients for treatment and always receives the question: "Has the hospital achieved any international standard certification?"
Therefore, the hospital's achievement of ACHSI international hospital quality certification is a favorable condition for the hospital in particular and Ho Chi Minh City in general to promote medical tourism and attract foreign patients.
In response to the concerns of many patients when public hospitals meet international quality standards, whether these hospitals will increase prices, Associate Professor Diem Tuyet affirmed: "We aim to provide patients with international medical services at costs suitable for the income of Vietnamese people, not to increase prices because of achieving international certification."
According to Associate Professor Diem Tuyet, some advanced techniques such as assisted reproduction at the hospital have more foreigners coming to the hospital for treatment than other areas.
Currently, the cost of assisted reproductive treatment at Hung Vuong Hospital is only 1/4 of the cost of assisted reproductive treatment in the region.
For example, the current cost of reproductive support at Hung Vuong Hospital is about 50-70 million VND. Meanwhile, in Singapore, this cost is about 12,000 Singapore dollars (nearly 230 million VND-PV).
In Vietnam, Hung Vuong Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City is the only public hospital that meets international standards. There are more private hospitals that meet international standards than public hospitals. Mr. Nguyen Trong Khoa - Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health - informed this at a recent conference in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Associate Professor Diem Tuyet, ACHSI is Australia's oldest, largest and most preeminent hospital quality certification organization.
Achieving ACHSI certification means that the hospital has adhered to and maintained strict standards of medical service, helping to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
Public hospitals are facing many challenges.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Khoa, public hospitals are facing many challenges such as overload, difficulties in financial autonomy, procurement, and bidding.
Some other difficulties include the shift of high-quality medical human resources from public hospitals to private hospitals, lack of high-quality human resources in terms of expertise and management, poor infrastructure, etc.
