To foster a tradition of academic excellence, Phu Ninh district, now comprising the three communes of Tay Ho, Chien Dan, and Phu Ninh, jointly maintains the annual Phan Chau Trinh Award to honor outstanding students, university students, and postgraduate students, spreading the spirit of promoting learning and talent in the locality.

Continuing the intellectual legacy of Phan Châu Trinh, 25 years ago, the People's Committee of the former Tam Kỳ town established the Phan Châu Trinh Award. After the administrative division (in 2005), the People's Committee of Tam Kỳ city and the People's Committee of Phú Ninh district jointly awarded the prize annually, and since 2010, they have organized separate awards in each locality.

The Phan Chau Trinh Award ceremony in Phu Ninh district is held solemnly at the Phan Chau Trinh Memorial House at the beginning of each new school year. Operating under a two-tiered local government model, the three communes of Tay Ho, Chien Dan, and Phu Ninh cooperate in organizing the event, demonstrating a spirit of unity and joint effort for the cause of promoting education and talent in this region known for its learning.

According to Mr. Phan Van Ba, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Ho commune, the Phan Chau Trinh Award has profound significance in honoring the tradition of studiousness in the homeland. Naming the award after the patriotic scholar Phan Chau Trinh not only expresses gratitude to the ancestors but also serves as a way to educate the younger generation about life ideals, the spirit of learning, and responsibility towards society.

After 25 years of establishment and maintenance, the award has honored hundreds of individuals and groups with outstanding achievements. In the 15 years since its organization in Phu Ninh – the hometown of the patriotic scholar Phan Chau Trinh – the award has recognized more than 510 academically gifted and successful individuals.

The Phan Châu Trinh Award is not merely a form of recognition, but has become a symbol of the studious spirit, the aspiration for excellence, and the pride of the Tây Hồ - Chiên Đàn - Phú Ninh region.

More importantly, many individuals who received the award went on to study, research, and grow, becoming high-quality human resources for society. Many of them have returned to contribute to their hometowns through activities supporting education, promoting learning, and nurturing talent.

According to the leaders of Tay Ho, Chien Dan, and Phu Ninh communes, the country is entering a period of strong integration and development, and knowledge and high-quality human resources are increasingly becoming decisive factors. Therefore, maintaining, promoting, and elevating the Phan Chau Trinh Award is not only the responsibility of the government at all levels but also the shared responsibility of the entire society, of each family, each clan, and of the people of Quang Nam province living, studying, and working throughout the country and around the world .

“With a tradition of studiousness nurtured through many generations, with the attention and leadership of Party committees and government at all levels, and the joint efforts of the whole society, the Phan Chau Trinh Award will continue to be preserved, developed, and spread even more strongly. It will continue to be a great source of motivation to help many young talents soar to greater heights, contributing to building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland, worthy of the tradition of the land that gave birth to the patriotic scholar Phan Chau Trinh,” Mr. Ba said.
