Following the Prime Minister's directive, the Ministry of Transport's leadership requested the Vietnam Expressway Administration to take the lead and coordinate with the Project Management Boards to review each specific location and arrange temporary rest stops at appropriate distances, ensuring convenience and meeting the needs of people and vehicles using the route.

Initially, units should immediately set up temporary parking areas and restrooms at rest stops where land has been partially handed over, or at convenient locations along the route, to be completed before April 27th.

Simultaneously, the Vietnam Road Administration is guiding project management boards on the necessary procedures for connecting temporary rest stops to the expressway, and supplementing traffic safety systems to ensure the safety of vehicles entering and exiting these temporary rest stops. At the same time, measures are being taken to publicize and guide drivers on the locations of rest stops and gas stations on routes connecting to the expressway, for immediate use.

According to updates from the Highway Department, tender documents for 8 out of 10 rest stops on the North-South Expressway (Eastern section, Phase 1) were issued on March 20th, with investors expected to be selected by June. Currently, land for 5 out of 8 pairs of rest stops on the expressways, including Mai Son - National Highway 45, Nghi Son - Dien Chau, Dien Chau - Bai Vot, Cam Lam - Vinh Hao, and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay, will be handed over to investors in June for construction to begin.

According to reports, the remaining rest stops on the Nha Trang - Cam Lam and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressways will only have their land handed over by August, two months behind schedule. By August, it is expected that five pairs of rest stops serving the expressways will be put into operation, with an additional three pairs in October. It is expected that by November, all expressway projects that have been opened to traffic will have temporary rest stops to serve the public.
