Minister of Education and Training awarded the Decision to recognize the Rector of Tay Bac University

Comrade Nguyen Kim Son, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Training, presented the decision and flowers to congratulate the new Principal of Tay Bac University.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Kim Son, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Training and the working delegation.

At the ceremony, the leaders of the Department of Organization and Personnel announced Decision No. 2345/QD-BGDDT dated August 19, 2025 of the Ministry of Education and Training recognizing Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh as Rector of Tay Bac University for the 2025-2030 term.

Comrade Nguyen Kim Son, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Training, spoke at the ceremony announcing the decision to recognize the school's Principal for the 2025-2030 term.

In his congratulatory speech, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son asked the new Principal and all staff and lecturers to promote the spirit of solidarity, intelligence and combined strength to successfully complete the assigned tasks.

Comrade Nguyen Kim Son requested the Principal and the staff and lecturers to continue to innovate, create, and improve the quality of training; build an educational environment with its own identity, becoming a center for training quality human resources, meeting the requirements of educational innovation and socio-economic development in the Northwest region.

On the same day, Minister Nguyen Kim Son had a working session with Tay Bac University to grasp the school's operations and development orientation in the coming time.

Delegates attended the ceremony to announce the decision to recognize the Rector of Tay Bac University for the 2025-2030 term.

Northwest University was established in 2001, the predecessor is Thai Meo Autonomous Region Secondary Teacher Training School, Northwest 10+3 Secondary Teacher Training School, Northwest Pedagogical College.

Currently, the school is a multidisciplinary university, training in many fields such as pedagogy, agriculture and forestry, economics, tourism, health sciences, and is also a center for research, technology transfer and training of international students from 9 provinces of Northern Laos.

Comrade Nguyen Kim Son works with Tay Bac University.

Over the years, Tay Bac University has maintained and developed 25 undergraduate training majors, with a scale of nearly 6,000 students/year; over 90% of graduates have jobs. The school has completed the quality assessment of educational institutions for the period 2016-2020; implemented self-assessment of 24 training programs, and external assessment of 6 programs.

Tay Bac University has promoted international cooperation and scientific research. In February 2025, Tay Bac University was included in the list of 14 key institutions for teacher training according to the Plan for the network of higher education and pedagogical institutions for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Members of the Ministry of Education and Training's working delegation attended the meeting with Tay Bac University.

At the meeting, representatives of the Departments and Divisions under the Ministry of Education and Training gave suggestions for the school to continue to improve its organization, expand its enrollment area, increase training for Lao students, and build modern, high-quality training programs.

In his concluding remarks, Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized the important role of Tay Bac University in training human resources for the Northwest region.

Members of the Ministry of Education and Training's working delegation spoke at the working session with Tay Bac University.

Comrade Nguyen Kim Son suggested that the school continue to promote the achieved results, expand the scale and improve the quality of training, especially in the fields of pedagogy, agriculture-forestry, information technology, Lao and Thai language teachers; strengthen domestic and international cooperation, contributing to meeting the human resource needs for sustainable development of the region.
