Naval Region 5 Command offers incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.

On the morning of January 28, in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province, a delegation of the Naval Region 5 Command led by Colonel Trinh Xuan Tung, Commander of the Region, offered flowers and incense at the Uncle Ho Monument, Phu Quoc Martyrs' Temple, Phu Quoc City Martyrs' Cemetery and the Fist Monument on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025.

The delegation included Rear Admiral Nguyen Huu Thoan, Political Commissar of Naval Region 5 Command; Lieutenant Colonel Mai Dang Danh, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Naval Region 5 Command; heads of agencies and units and a large number of officers and soldiers.

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, the delegation respectfully offered flowers and incense in memory, expressing their infinite gratitude for the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and for the happiness of the people.

In 2024, officers, soldiers, and the Naval Region 5 Command thoroughly grasped the situation and tasks, united, creative, proactive, and strived to successfully complete all assigned tasks. Among them, many tasks were excellently completed such as: Training, combat readiness, exercises, defense diplomacy, patrolling, reconnaissance, and strictly managing assigned sea areas.

The region has done a good job of propagating the sea and islands, and combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing; effectively maintained the program "Vietnam Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea", the activity "Navy sponsors fishermen's children"; and done a good job of mass mobilization, search and rescue, and prevention of natural disasters, fires, and forest fires.

During the year, the unit coordinated with local authorities and forces to promptly extinguish 7 fires in the stationed area; transported and provided nearly 1,000m3 of fresh water free of charge to people in drought and saltwater intrusion areas in Ca Mau province and fishermen in the Southwest sea. Thereby, it contributed to strengthening the solidarity between the army and the people, building a solid "people's heart position" at sea. With the results achieved, in 2024, the Naval Region 5 Command was awarded the Flag of the leading unit in the "Determined to Win" emulation movement by the Ministry of National Defense ...

Before the spirit of President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs, officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 5 Command vow to promote the revolutionary tradition and achievements, unite, strive, train, study, work, and excellently complete all assigned tasks, contributing to firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
