Amateur men's football is no longer unfamiliar to fans, but the fact that female students, office workers, or teachers play football and organize their own tournaments to satisfy their passion still seems to surprise experts. With relatively limited time for entertainment and relaxation, women's amateur football in Saigon is spreading like an undercurrent, growing stronger and stronger.

The APG Cup is exciting and equally intense.
APG, a team comprised of former UK trainees, auditors, bankers, and others, was initially formed simply to play football together. Over time, in keeping with the principles reflected in its name (APG stands for Active, Professional, and Group), this ambitious group has successfully organized numerous amateur tournaments, including the annual APG Women's Football Tournament, now in its fifth edition.

With its large scale and professional organization, on par with any official competition, from strict rules and impeccable uniforms to impressive media coverage and, most importantly, extremely successful sponsorship with a long list of sponsors, the APG Cup is increasingly affirming its prestige and stature in the hearts of female soccer players.

Beyond the fact that the teams have reached a fairly high level of professionalism in the city's amateur women's football scene, the APG Cup also encourages teams to join hands in charitable work. Specifically, this season's event included a visit and gift-giving to cancer patients at the hospital, along with a donation of 15 million VND to the "Thuy's Dream" program, which aims to care for and provide emotional support to child cancer patients. The program is named after Le Thanh Thuy, a former Outstanding Young Citizen of Ho Chi Minh City, a bone cancer patient who was admired and respected by young people, and who passed away in 2007.

Sunshine won the championship.
Winning 4-1 against Martland in the final on the evening of July 11th, Sunshine team convincingly claimed the championship title. Sunshine's striker Thuy Hong also won the "Best Player of the Tournament" award, while striker Phuc Hau was awarded the title of Miss APG Cup 2020. The host team, APG Team, finished in 5th place, while the APG - Lien Hoa youth team secured 3rd place overall.

The organizers of the competition presented the donated funds to the "Thuy's Dream" program.
