On the night of May 9th, Manchester United drew 0-0 with hosts Sunderland in the 36th round of the Premier League.

MU drew a lackluster match.

After securing their Champions League qualification, manager Michael Carrick rested several key players, including Casemiro. Without the Brazilian midfielder, Man Utd were outplayed in the first half and, for the first time this season, failed to register a single shot on target in 45 minutes.

In the second half, manager Carrick tried to make a few adjustments. Patrick Dorgu and Bryan Mbeumo came on, but they couldn't help the visitors improve the quality of their attacks. 90 minutes passed without a single shot on target from the "Red Devils". In the 63rd and 71st minutes, Lammens and the post respectively saved Manchester United from conceding a goal.

In injury time of the second half, MU had their first significant chance. However, Matheus Cunha's shot went straight to the goalkeeper, who was already in position.

The match at the Stadium of Light ended in a 0-0 draw. MU remains in third place with 65 points, 6 and 7 points ahead of Liverpool and Aston Villa respectively. Aston Villa has played one fewer game.
