In recent years, Chuong My district in Hanoi has witnessed significant changes in the appearance and quality of life of its people thanks to the new rural development program. After more than three years of implementing the program under Program No. 07-CTr/HU of the District Party Committee, Chuong My has mobilized more than 1,600 billion VND to improve infrastructure, cultural life, and the economy of local people.

Over 1.6 trillion VND invested in building new rural areas.

Under the close guidance of the Chuong My District Party Committee and with the spirit of unity and solidarity from the government to the people, the district has achieved impressive results in the process of building new rural areas. According to reports, the total funds mobilized for the program have reached over 1,600 billion VND. Of this, contributions from the people account for a significant portion, with nearly 180 billion VND including labor, donated land, cash, and in-kind donations.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Secretary of the Chuong My District Party Committee, stated: "Building new rural areas is a long-term and sustainable journey with no end point. We have been, are, and will continue to focus on leading and directing efforts to achieve the set goals and targets, ensuring that Chuong My develops in the direction of urbanization while still preserving its unique traditional culture."

The significant investment in the new rural development program has contributed to creating a more modern and civilized rural landscape. Infrastructure projects such as roads, schools, health centers, and public lighting systems have been renovated and newly constructed, contributing to improved living conditions and income for the people.

The New Rural Development Program has brought positive changes to the people of Chuong My. According to statistics, the average per capita income has increased significantly. In 2021, the average per capita income was 65 million VND/year, rising to 74 million VND in 2023 and estimated to reach 80 million VND in 2024. This figure shows a clear improvement in the economic conditions of the people, thereby enhancing their quality of life.

Furthermore, the program also focuses on reducing the poverty rate. In 2021, the district had 529 poor households, but by 2023, this number had sharply decreased to 99 households and is expected to reach the "basically no more poor households" level by 2024. Chuong My is aiming to complete the advanced new rural development criteria for 18 communes, an increase of 8 communes compared to the initial plan.

Sharing her thoughts on this change, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, a resident of Phung Chau commune, said: "Thanks to the new rural development program, our lives have changed a lot. The roads are clean and convenient, our children can study in a better environment, and healthcare conditions have improved significantly."

Building modern and sustainable rural areas.

The New Rural Development Program in Chuong My District not only focuses on improving infrastructure and the material lives of the people but also aims for the development of civilized and modern rural areas. The district sets a goal of developing in the direction of urbanization, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, and building livable villages.

District Party Secretary Nguyen Van Thang emphasized: "We not only focus on developing infrastructure but also concentrate on preserving the traditional cultural values ​​of each region and locality. Villages and residential areas are now not only modern and well-maintained but also retain their cultural beauty, creating a livable countryside."

The district also places a strong emphasis on environmental protection, with many models for processing organic waste at the household and community levels. The model of green, clean, beautiful, and safe villages is being replicated, creating an environmentally friendly living space and raising environmental awareness in the community.

Despite achieving remarkable results, the process of building new rural areas in Chuong My also faces many challenges.

One of the main challenges is mobilizing resources, especially in the context of a volatile economy. In addition, maintaining public consensus and active participation is also a major challenge, requiring flexibility and creativity in policies and advocacy methods.

Mr. Tran Van Binh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Phuong Tien commune, shared: "During the implementation process, we encountered many difficulties regarding resources. However, thanks to the attention of the district and the efforts of the people, the commune has gradually overcome these challenges and is progressively completing the criteria for building new rural areas. The support and unity of the people are a great motivation for us to continue moving forward."

The future development orientation of Chuong My District is to continue economic development linked to urbanization, transforming rural areas into livable and civilized places. The district aims to achieve and surpass the targets of 20 out of 25 indicators of the new rural development program by 2025. The development of advanced new rural communes will continue, with the goal of reaching 18 advanced new rural communes, an increase of 8 communes compared to the initial plan.

Thanks to clear investment and direction, Chuong My district is gradually changing its appearance, not only in terms of infrastructure but also in terms of economy and culture. New rural development programs continue to create momentum for the district's sustainable and more modern development, aiming towards a healthy, civilized, and livable Chuong My.
