A Seoul police representative said: "We have initiated legal proceedings against Mr. Kwon after investigating the singer's violation of drug laws. The investigation is still ongoing so we cannot disclose details yet."

After Korean media reported that G-Dragon was being investigated for drug use, management company YG Entertainment spoke up: "It's difficult to give an exact answer because he is not currently an artist under the company."

G-Dragon reportedly "broke up" with YG Entertainment last October after nearly 20 years of association. The Korean music star is said to have signed a contract with the American record label Warner Records and is planning to return to the music industry after a few months of rest.

This is not the first time G-Dragon has been in trouble for drug use. In 2011, he was caught smoking marijuana at a nightclub in South Korea. However, the singer was not investigated because the amount he used was small and there was no evidence to prove that G-Dragon regularly used "illegal substances".

In 2014, G-Dragon continued to cause controversy when he posted a photo with the word Molly and white powder scattered around.

G-Dragon (born 1988) is the main vocalist, rapper, and composer for the Korean boy band Big Bang. He is considered by the Korean and Asian media as the "king of Kpop" (Korean pop music).

The male singer officially entered the entertainment industry in 2006 as the leader of Big Bang and brought great fame to the boy band with the top commercial value in Korea.

G-Dragon's personal album - Heartbreaker - released in 2009 also became the best-selling album by a young Korean artist at that time and won Album of the Year at the 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

In addition to his success in the music industry, he is also considered a Korean fashion icon and has collaborated creatively with major brands thanks to his unique style and large fan base.

In 2023, the Korean entertainment industry witnessed many famous artists getting into trouble with the law for being involved in illegal drugs. First, the talented young actor Yoo Ah In was prosecuted for using illegal drugs. He was found positive for 5 types of drugs and had to appear in court.

Recently, the actor of the movie Parasite - Lee Sun Kyun - was also involved in a drug scandal. The Korean star was also exploited by a drug dealer and blackmailed for 300 million won (about 5.4 billion VND).
