Localities strengthen food safety inspections during Mid-Autumn Festival

The Food Safety Department recommends that localities step up inspection and handling of food safety violations to protect consumer health during the 2025 Mid-Autumn Festival.

The Department of Food Safety ( Ministry of Health ) has just sent a document to the Department of Health of provinces and centrally run cities, the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City and the Food Safety Management Board of Da Nang City, requesting localities and relevant agencies to strengthen food safety during the 2025 Mid-Autumn Festival.

According to the Food Safety Department, in the coming time, especially near the Mid-Autumn Festival, the demand for cakes and candies will increase dramatically. Therefore, to ensure food safety, prevent food poisoning, and protect the rights and health of consumers, the Food Safety Department recommends that localities direct functional units to focus on implementing measures to ensure food safety.

The Food Safety Department requested the Department of Health of provinces and cities to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Agriculture and Environment to strengthen the implementation of inspection activities and examination of compliance with legal regulations on food safety of food production, processing and trading establishments in the area, focusing on prioritizing establishments producing and trading moon cakes, confectionery, soft drinks, traditional foods produced in craft villages, small establishments; food service establishments, street food...

Along with that, relevant units promptly trace and recall products that do not ensure food safety, strictly handle violations and publicize the name of the facility, address, and type of violating product on the mass media. If there are signs of criminality, propose to transfer the case to the police for handling according to the provisions of law; Proactively coordinate with media agencies to strengthen information, education and communication on food safety during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

For consumers, it is necessary to select, process, preserve and use safe food. Consumers only buy and use food and food additives with full labels, clear origin and source; do not use food additives not listed, not for the right subjects, and not in the prescribed dosage.

The Food Safety Department also requested the Department of Health of provinces and cities to direct medical units in the area to prepare plans, standing forces, vehicles, supplies, and chemicals to be ready to provide emergency aid and treatment to patients when food poisoning occurs; investigate food poisoning cases, determine the cause of poisoning, and implement measures to prevent the risk of food poisoning and foodborne diseases./.
