Petrolimex organizes intensive environmental protection training course

Director of the Center for Staff Training, Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Huu Manh announced the decision of Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment on organizing a specialized environmental protection training course.

Attending the opening ceremony of the training course were Mr. Dang Huu Manh, Director of the Center for Training of Officials, University of Natural Resources and Environment; Ms. Le Thi Minh Anh - Expert in legal policy on environmental protection; Dr. Hoang Thi Hue, Head of the Department of Natural Resources Management, Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment.

On the Petrolimex side, there were Deputy General Director Nguyen Sy Cuong; Deputy Head of Safety Technology Department Vu Thi Thu; Chairman of Petrolimex Quang Ninh One Member Co., Ltd. Trinh Quang Vinh and nearly 70 trainees who are leaders and officers of Petroleum Companies, General Depots, Branches, Ports, Corporations/Joint Stock Companies and Joint Ventures in the North and North Central regions.

The training course aims to raise awareness and in-depth understanding of the environment, contributing to improving the effectiveness of management, supervision and implementation of environmental protection work in the entire system; at the same time, this is also an opportunity for member companies/units of the Petrolimex system to exchange expertise, share experiences, and resolve difficulties to improve the effectiveness of environmental protection work at the Unit.

Taking place over 4 days from September 24 to 27, 2025, with the participation of teaching and sharing of experiences by experts, lecturers with rich knowledge and practice from Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Environment, including 9 key topics: (1) System of legal basis for regulations related to petroleum business activities (KDXD) and environmental protection obligations of organizations and individuals in KDXD; (2) System of environmental records that need to be implemented and other related issues; (3) Instructions for completing the dossiers of "Environmental impact assessment", "Preliminary environmental impact assessment" for projects and facilities operating in the field of petroleum and petroleum products"; (4) Instructions for completing the dossiers of "Environmental license", "Environmental registration" for projects and facilities operating in the field of petroleum and petroleum products; (5) Instructions for "Environmental monitoring and annual environmental protection report preparation"; (6) Instructions for completing the dossiers of "Oil spill response plan (SPRP) for petroleum depots", "Environmental incident response plan (SPRP) and waste for petroleum depots", instructions for integrating "SPRP plan for petroleum depots and SPRP plan and waste for petroleum stations and obligations to be performed after the plan is issued; (7) Wastewater management in construction and business activities of other petroleum products; (8) Management of solid waste and hazardous waste in construction and petroleum products; (9) Guidance on greenhouse gas inventory, development of greenhouse gas emission reduction plans, and greenhouse gas emission reduction reports. In addition to in-depth training content, trainees will participate in field surveys at the K130 petroleum depot of Petrolimex Quang Ninh Company Limited.

Speaking at the opening of the training course, Petrolimex Deputy General Director Nguyen Sy Cuong emphasized that Petrolimex always identifies the foundation of its sustainable development strategy as the implementation of the goal of economic growth going hand in hand with environmental protection and social development. Therefore, promptly grasping and updating new regulations in the legal system on environmental protection and improving the management and supervision capacity of environmental protection in production and business activities in member companies/units is a mandatory requirement and plays an extremely important role, especially in the context of increasingly tightened legal regulations and environmental standards, increasing the requirements for control and transparency of environmental responsibilities. At the same time, directing member companies/units to continue to effectively operate the environmental management system, be ready to respond to environmental incidents to affirm Petrolimex's competitive advantage and demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development.
