Professor Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, said that medical facilities nationwide have actively implemented the smoke-free hospital model. However, with the emergence of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products with various marketing tactics targeting young people, the health sector must be even more resolute and decisive.

The Deputy Minister of Health emphasized: If hospitals continue to tolerate smoking, it will be very difficult to demand societal change. Therefore, the heads of hospitals, medical centers, clinics, and other healthcare facilities must bear direct responsibility for the results of building a smoke-free environment. A smoke-free healthcare facility is not only a mandatory requirement, but also a professional standard, a measure of the hospital's culture, and an ethical commitment of medical professionals.

Professor Thuan suggested that every hospital, every department, every healthcare worker, every patient, and every patient's family member should work together to make "smoke-free healthcare facilities" the daily norm.

To expand the model of implementing smoke-free healthcare facilities, the first Smoke-Free Healthcare Facility Competition is being launched by the Health and Life Newspaper, open to healthcare facilities nationwide.
