'Outstanding Student' Saves Boy from Drowning

TPO - Nguyen Xuan Linh, a student at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University, promptly performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), contributing to saving the life of a child who was drowning at the Seven-Tier Waterfall in Than Sa commune, Thai Nguyen province.

While playing with friends at the Seven-Tier Waterfall in Than Sa commune, Thai Nguyen province, Nguyen Xuan Linh noticed chaos above. Upon arriving, Linh realized the child had turned blue and had stopped circulating blood.

Without hesitation, the male student immediately shouted for help, quickly placed the victim on a flat surface, and performed chest compressions, while simultaneously instructing others on how to provide artificial respiration and clear the airway. After a few minutes of persistent resuscitation, signs of life returned as the child's pupils constricted and a pulse returned. The boy was then given further first aid, kept warm, and transferred to a medical facility.

The leaders of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University, commended the male student for his courageous act of saving someone from drowning.

It is known that Nguyen Xuan Linh is currently a 5th-year student at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University. He previously received the "Excellent Student" award at the university level for the 2024-2025 academic year, has been an outstanding student for many consecutive years, and is the principal investigator of a scientific research project published in the Journal of Medical Research.

These achievements, along with their courageous acts of saving lives in emergency situations, have shown the image of a medical student who is not only professionally competent but also highly responsible, courageous, and compassionate.

Nguyen Xuan Linh's admirable act not only helped save a life but also spread a positive image of Vietnamese students – young people who are knowledgeable, compassionate, and ready to act for the community.

The boy who was saved by student Nguyen Xuan Linh is now in stable condition.
