Energy sector

Today, May 29th, the online newspaper vnexpress.net published the following information: How does E10 gasoline help reduce emissions?

From June 1st, E10 bioethanol fuel will be widely available nationwide, expected to help reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 2.5 million tons per year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade . E10 is a type of bioethanol fuel blended with 10% fuel ethanol (bioethanol) and 90% traditional mineral gasoline. Ethanol is mainly produced from raw materials such as cassava, sugarcane, and corn, so it is considered a renewable fuel.

According to experts, the application of biofuels is a solution to help Vietnam reduce its dependence on imported petroleum products and diversify its energy sources amidst the energy crisis caused by the Middle East conflict. This transition also supports the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aiming for net zero emissions by 2050.

Tien Phong newspaper reports: Electricity prices at night are three times higher, businesses begin recalculating production shifts.

Many businesses are beginning to consider shifting production shifts to late nights, cutting back on the operation of high-power equipment in the evening to avoid sharply rising electricity costs as the new peak hours are expected to extend until 10:30 PM.

Previously, peak electricity usage hours were from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and 5 PM to 8 PM, while off-peak hours were from 10 PM to 4 AM the following morning. With the new plan, the morning peak hours will be eliminated, but the evening peak hours will be extended by approximately two and a half hours.

Import and export sector

According to Investment Newspaper: Expanding import and export opportunities with the Singapore market.

Vietnam-Singapore trade relations have seen positive growth as the two countries continue to promote economic cooperation, investment, and regional supply chain connectivity. The State visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to Singapore from May 29-31 is expected to open up new opportunities for cooperation in trade, logistics, digital transformation, and regional supply chains.

Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), emphasized that this visit by General Secretary and President To Lam will contribute to promoting closer ties between trade promotion, investment promotion, and innovation promotion, especially in areas where Singapore has strengths such as finance, logistics, digital transformation, e-commerce, green economy, clean energy, smart cities, AI, semiconductors, and data centers.

Singapore is currently Vietnam's fourth largest trading partner in ASEAN.

The Tuoi Tre newspaper published an article titled: Vietnamese rice conquers demanding markets.

Producing high-quality rice for export to demanding markets with stringent requirements is the direction that organic rice producers are aiming for. One of the biggest bottlenecks in exporting high-quality rice relates to export licenses, requiring large-scale production, warehousing, and factory facilities. In particular, exporting requires businesses to go through a consignment process, leading to many other complications.

Therefore, if businesses focus on producing high-quality rice that fully meets the needs of the import market instead of chasing quantity, they will be limited in their export opportunities. "In reality, the largest production volume does not necessarily mean the greatest value or revenue."

Trade promotion sector

Hanoi New Newspaper reports: Trade promotion: A "support system" for the capital's collective economy to thrive.

Over the years, the Hanoi City Cooperative Union has proactively innovated and implemented a series of trade promotion activities and expanded international cooperation. Not only does it act as a "bridge" to bring agricultural products and OCOP products into modern distribution systems, but the Hanoi City Cooperative Union also provides a strong impetus for the sustainable development of the capital's collective economic sector.

During the period 2020-2025, the entire trade promotion activities of the City Cooperative Union supported approximately 2,000 cooperatives and member organizations in promoting and connecting the consumption of more than 5,000 OCOP products, agricultural products, and traditional craft village products.

Domestic market sector

The Dai Doan Ket newspaper published the following information: Focusing on building a goods market that leverages Vietnam's advantages.

At the meeting of the Council for the Appraisal of the Draft Law on Commodity Derivatives Trading, Tran Huu Linh, Director of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade), stated that the current legal system only provides a framework for the trading of commodities through commodity exchanges, while many issues arising in practice have not been fully and comprehensively addressed. Current regulations are scattered across various specialized laws such as the Commercial Law, the Law on Credit Institutions, the Law on Foreign Trade Management, the Law on Electricity, etc., but there is no unified mechanism for all commodity derivatives trading activities.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes comprehensive management of the commodity derivatives market, including both transactions through commodity exchanges and decentralized trading, while clarifying the legal application mechanism for settlement activities involving cash or actual physical delivery of goods.

The website bnews.vn reported: Identifying genuine and counterfeit goods, protecting consumers.

The Can Tho City Market Management Department recently collaborated with Honda Vietnam Company and Pham & Lien Danh Law Firm to organize a training conference aimed at improving the ability to assess and distinguish genuine from counterfeit Honda products. The program attracted participation from law enforcement agencies, businesses, and relevant units to enhance the effectiveness of combating counterfeit goods and intellectual property infringement in the area.

The training conference was of practical significance, contributing to raising awareness and skills in distinguishing genuine from counterfeit Honda products, while also creating opportunities for units to share experiences and solutions in responding to intellectual property infringement.

E-commerce sector

The Tien Phong newspaper published an article titled: "Ministry of Industry and Trade intervenes, Shopee immediately postpones fee increase."

TPO - The National Competition Commission, Ministry of Industry and Trade, announced that it has requested Shopee to review the basis and impact of the new fee policy. Following this, the company proactively proposed postponing the fee for the "display maintenance program," which was scheduled to be implemented from May 29th. The National Competition Commission has recently received numerous complaints regarding several e-commerce platforms adjusting and adding new fees, which could increase the operating costs of sellers, thereby impacting prices and the competitive environment in the e-commerce market.

After receiving the information, the National Competition Commission worked with several sellers on the Shopee and TikTok Shop platforms to record the difficulties and shortcomings arising from the adjustment of fixed fees, transaction processing fees, and some new service fees expected to be applied in May...
