Once known as the industrial capital of the country, Binh Duong is now entering a new phase of development: transforming from traditional production to high technology.
Successive meetings with leading technology corporations such as AMD (USA) and MiTAC (Taiwan - China) have clearly demonstrated the province's strategic vision - making artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology and digital economy the pillars of a sustainable growth model.
Strategic Signals from AMD
Mr. Bui Thanh Nhan, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee, in an interview with the press, said that the high-level meeting between the provincial leaders and the world's two leading technology corporations - Advanced Micro Devices and MiTAC clearly showed the new vision in attracting investment of the locality, not spreading out, not chasing quantity, but focusing on a new direction with industries with high added value, environmental friendliness and high intellectual content.
At the meeting between provincial leaders and representatives of AMD Group on June 13, Mr. Ryan Sim, Director of Asia Pacific and Japan region of this group, expressed his impression with the development speed and strategic orientation of Binh Duong.
He said AMD is particularly interested in the potential for cooperation in the high-tech industry, training quality human resources and developing the semiconductor ecosystem.
As the global semiconductor supply chain is reshaping, Vietnam is becoming an increasingly attractive destination thanks to its strategic geographical location, stable political environment and open-door policies. Binh Duong is not only a part of that picture but also stands out with its synchronous industrial infrastructure system, flexible mechanisms and innovative thinking.
As of mid-June, the province had attracted more than 4,500 foreign investment projects from 65 countries and territories, with a total registered capital exceeding 42.7 billion USD. Of these, the United States had 138 projects, with nearly 1.4 billion USD in registered capital. The figures show that there is still a lot of room for cooperation, especially in core technology areas.
AMD is currently one of the world's leading corporations in high-performance processors, AI accelerators and computing platforms serving areas such as supercomputing, defense, e-government and generative AI models. AMD's interest in Binh Duong is a positive signal showing that the locality has entered the sights of global technology value chains.
MiTAC and the smart city vision
Following the meeting with AMD, Binh Duong province leaders had a working session with Mr. Su Liang, Chairman of MiTAC Group - a multinational technology enterprise present in more than 70 countries.

With over 40 years of experience in core technology development and system integration, MiTAC is a strategic partner in projects on artificial intelligence, big data, smart transportation and digital government.
At the meeting, provincial leaders affirmed that Binh Duong's economic development strategy is targeting industries with high added value, less labor-intensive and efficient use of resources.
The province prioritizes attracting investment in areas such as semiconductor technology, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, green energy, circular economy and digital economy.
Mr. Su Liang highly appreciated Binh Duong's orientation towards building a smart city, and expressed his desire to implement specific projects such as urban railways, smart lighting systems, and urban surveillance using artificial intelligence. According to him, MiTAC's solutions are completely in line with the province's digital transformation strategy.
Currently, Binh Duong is promoting the development of innovation zones, concentrated information technology zones and science and technology industrial zones. The province also focuses on applying technology in state management and public services, aiming to form a digital government, digital economy and digital society.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Minh Tri said the province will create all favorable conditions for international corporations to successfully implement projects in the locality, especially in areas with the potential to lead the transformation of the growth model.
Specifically to transform opportunities
Over the past three decades, Binh Duong has affirmed its position as the most dynamic industrial capital of the country, building a solid production-export-investment foundation.
As of June 2025, the province has 30 industrial parks in operation, with a total area of over 13,000 hectares, and an occupancy rate of over 90%.
According to the planning until 2030 and vision to 2050, Binh Duong will develop about 10 new industrial parks, prioritizing high-tech park models and ecological industrial parks.

Not only attracting foreign investment, Binh Duong also has a strong domestic enterprise force with more than 73,600 registered units, total registered capital reaching 807,000 billion VND.
Annual export turnover remains stable at around 35 billion USD, putting the province in the top group of the country in terms of international trade value.
Those solid foundations create Binh Duong's sustainable momentum in traditional industry, but are also an important stepping stone for the strategy of shifting to high technology.
With an investment ecosystem being restructured towards quality, with available land funds and open policies, Binh Duong is striving to become a strategic partner of global technology corporations in the fields of semiconductors, artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.
To realize the vision of becoming a high-tech center of the Southern key economic region, Binh Duong is synchronously implementing many solutions.
The focus is on investing in digital infrastructure, modern logistics, clean energy and training high-quality human resources. The province also aims to establish research centers, cooperate with international universities and build a one-stop model to support investment in the technology sector.
In addition, Binh Duong identifies the public-private partnership model as the key to mobilizing resources, especially in projects to build data centers, renewable energy, and shared digital platforms.
In the context of increasingly fierce competition to attract high-tech investment among localities, Binh Duong has chosen its own path. That path is based on innovation, research capacity and the ability to adapt to the economic sectors of the future.
Shifting from labor-intensive industry to brainpower industry, the province is building a new image, a pioneering locality in innovation, ready to participate deeply in the global value chain.
Groundbreaking meetings with tech giants are concrete steps to realizing the vision./.
