On the afternoon of March 23, leaders of the People's Committee of Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province, announced that in implementing the plan to merge and restructure the administrative apparatus to streamline staffing and improve the efficiency of state management, the district People's Committee has planned to merge the current 16 communes into 3 commune-level administrative units.
According to the proposed plan, the 16 existing communes will be merged into 3 new communes, named Bac Quang Trach, Trung Quang Trach, and Nam Quang Trach.
Bac Quang Trach commune will be formed by merging four communes: Quang Dong, Quang Phu, Quang Kim, and Quang Hop. The commune will have a total area of 197.41 km², a population of 30,850 people, and 76 officials and civil servants. The main office will be located in Quang Phu commune, and the branch office in Quang Kim commune.
Trung Quang Trach commune will be formed by merging six communes: Quang Chau, Quang Luu, Quang Tien, Quang Thach, Quang Tung, and Canh Duong. The commune will have an area of 151.5 km², a population of 46,232 people, and 113 officials and civil servants. The main office will be located in Quang Tien commune, and the branch office in Quang Tung commune.
The new commune of Nam Quang Trach will be formed by merging six communes: Quang Phuong, Lien Truong, Quang Thanh, Phu Canh, Quang Xuan, and Quang Hung. The new commune will have an area of 97.69 km², a population of 53,817, and 140 officials and civil servants. The administrative center of Quang Trach district will be located in Quang Phuong commune.
In addition to merging administrative units, the People's Committee of Quang Trach district also plans to reorganize its staff of officials, civil servants, and public employees to ensure a more streamlined and efficient operational apparatus. For district-level officials and civil servants, the district will review and reassign them to suitable positions, while simultaneously applying a downsizing policy as prescribed.
For commune-level officials and civil servants, the consolidation of positions will be implemented to ensure sufficient personnel according to needs, while also guaranteeing appropriate benefits for officials.
According to the leaders of the Quang Trach District People's Committee, the merger of administrative units is an inevitable step in the strategy of reforming the administrative apparatus. The goal is not only to reduce the number of administrative agencies, but also to improve work efficiency and create more favorable conditions for people to access public administrative services.
