At King Power Stadium on May 18th, Jamie Vardy made his mark with a superb goal after an assist from James Justin.
This was his 200th goal in his 500th appearance for Leicester City. Even more remarkably, this milestone came exactly 13 years after he left semi-professional club Fleetwood Town to begin his magical journey with the Foxes.
Immediately after the match, Leicester paid tribute to Vardy, calling him the greatest player in the club's history. His decision to leave the team as a free agent after this season also marks the end of a glorious journey – where Vardy rose from an unknown striker to an immortal icon at King Power.

The former England international was the driving force behind Leicester's historic Premier League title win in 2016 and played a key role in their first-ever FA Cup triumph in 2021. Furthermore, Vardy has demonstrated unwavering loyalty to Leicester.
After winning the Premier League in 2016, the number 9 striker rejected offers from big clubs – clubs that could have helped Vardy further his career with opportunities to play in the Champions League and win more titles. Instead, he extended his contract with Leicester and stated:
"I feel Leicester is where I belong. I believe in the club and the path we are on."
The turning point came in the 2022-2023 season, when Leicester were relegated to the Championship. Instead of leaving to continue playing at the highest level, Vardy decided to stay and help the team find their way back to the Premier League. Vardy's efforts paid off when he and Leicester secured promotion to the Premier League this season.
Despite being past his prime, Vardy has no intention of stopping. In an interview with Sky Sports earlier this month, he affirmed:
“I’ve never doubted myself. That’s who I am. Football is a world full of surprises – you never know what’s going to happen. I’ll keep playing until my legs can’t take it anymore. And right now, they’re fine.”
This season, Vardy has been a regular in Leicester's lineup, making 35 appearances in the Premier League, scoring 9 goals and providing 4 assists. Although those efforts couldn't save the Foxes from relegation, Jamie Vardy's legacy at the club will forever remain indelible.
